Xialing's eyes widened and a smirk raised to her lips as Madelaine mirrored her expression. The other woman's pupils were blown wide (like when the Italian looked at Xialing's brother) and the remaining visual color of the eye had started passing from honey brown to a more golden color.

It had been long since either of them had had a decent fight, even with Xialing participating in fights back at her empire, so it actually came as a breath of fresh air for a change.

"Holy shit! Are you seeing this Shaun?" Katy let out a laugh and looked up at her friend "Shaun?"

She saw he had his eyes fixed on Madelaine with a soft smile raising at the corners of his lips despite him now seeing his sister fight gruesomely with his friend.

"Oh my god this is priceless" Katy chuckled "Hellooooo? Anybody home?"

Shang snapped out of his daze when she waved her hand in front of his face.

"What?"

"Just ask her out already you idiot"

"What? I...I don't" he stammered.

"I knew all those times you looked at her weren't normal looks. You looked like a lovesick puppy dog" she bullied him "You like her don't you? Don't you don't you..."

"Would you stop it?" he covered her mouth as a few people turned at her loud remarks "I do not like her, okay?" the look he gave Madelaine next made Katy squeal against his hand.

"You're right you don't like her..." she said as she pried his hand off of her mouth "You love her"

"Shhh, shh, shh" he shushed her as Madelaine and Xialing finished their spar with their friend's staff end at Xialing's neck

When they finished, Madelaine spotted Shang and Katy and went over to them.

"How was training you guys" she asked them, smiling back at Shang when he sent her a handsome smile.

'Handsome? What the hell is wrong with you?' she hit herself internally.

"It went good, good..." Katy answered in a strange tone of voice.

"Look Mads I've got to tell you something that I just told Katy" he clarified in a loud voice the last part after Katy smirked at him.

"Sure"

They looked in surprise as the staff she had been using sort of...deflated until it was limp, a whip, and it curled back up her forearm like a snake to freeze there as the bracelet they knew her to wear.

Ф

Shang challenged her to a spar after she had defeated Xialing and they were now waiting for each other to be ready. Shang took out his Bo staff and Madline readied her whip.

"You sure you want to do this Shang?" Katy asked him as the two got ready to fight.

Ying Nan, Guang Bo and a few others from Ta Lo had joined Xialing and Katy to watch the two fighters go at each other.

"Yeah, you sure you want to do this Shang?" Madelaine taunted as they began to circle each other.

"Yes" he responded "Now let's go"

He was the first to make a move as he swung his staff down on her which she blocked with her bracelet one more in its staff form. As he was close enough, she raised her foot and slammed it against his chest to put distance between them.

Shang Chi observed as the golden staff was made devoid of its rigidness and became a whip. He was a bit more worried now as he hadn't seen her fight with the whip yet but he remained as he was.

To be fair, Madelaine had practiced fighting with the whip less than the staff, but she was still good with it, at least good enough to defeat Shang.

She flicked her wrist experimentally making Shang jump away from the snake's head as it nearly coiled around his ankle. He managed to get behind her and press his Bo staff against her back for a second before the fangs of her whip came behind her and hit it away.

Madelaine turned around and flicked the whip back into a staff to hold back the barricade of blow he threw at her, familiar somewhat with the pattern.

He got her as he dropped to the ground to swipe his foot at her ankle and she dropped. Just as he was about to get on top of her, she flung her body onto him and the whip slithered around his wrists as if it were alive.

(Please remember that Madelaine started training long before Shang and she retained things better since her training was more due to control than anger like Shang Chi's)

The crowd that had gathered clapped for them and dispersed but the ignored them and smirked at the young man below her, wiping one of his dark locks of hair back from his forehead.

"I win" she taunted as she got up.

Shang took her hand as help to stand up and tried to retake his breath and slow his heart rate down. His hands were released and the feeling of the cold metal going against his skin made him almost recoil away from the dangerous weapon.

"You are a good fighter" Guang Bo told her before he dragged Katy back to the archery range.

Shang looked away from their friend after she sent him a wink before following the older man.

"You have mastered the Golden Whip" Ying Nan told her with a hint of surprise in her voice "I see now why your father insisted on taking it with him when he and Lucille left"

"My mother trained me so I could use it since I was a child. I am glad she did" Madelaine said in Mandarin as she looked down at the golden bracelet and a hiss seemed to be heard in the air "After..." she looked at Shang and hesitated before saying what she was going to say "After my mother told me that the Ten Rings were the ones to kill my father, that just made me train harder, to earn his weapon and fight with it as he had"

Shang was silent and then walked away, a reaction Madeline had thought would happen if he heard his father was at fault for her father's death.

"Go" Nan told her.

She thanked the woman for everything and went after the man.
