The younger man continued to try and hit his father, Wenwu swiping the Bo staff away from himself as they fought on the jade ring beneath them.

As they continued, Wenwu threw Shang to the floor after blocking a few other hits.

"You were there when they came for her, and you did nothing" Wenwu said angrily looking down on his son "You stood at a window and watched her die!"

Shang got up with an angry huff and tried to hit his father as the other man was turned around only to have his father grab the Bo staff and push him off onto the field with his Ten Ring powers.

He threw his rings one by one to Shang who dodged them.

"She was gone and we needed you. But you chose those damn rings over us" he said with a sniffle "You trained your son to be a killer. Is this what you wanted?" he kept hitting at his father "Even if you could bring her back, what makes you think shed want anything to do with you?"

As the Ta Lo villagers fought off the Ten Ring's men, Madeline felt another jump in her system, not adrenaline this time but something worse.

She looked up to the mountain where Ying Nan had told them the gates were to see a red surge of power throughout the gate.

"NAN!" she called out to the woman.

Right as the older woman turned, a strange squid like creature swooped down from the sky and grabbed onto a man's face who tried to tear it off without success and Madeline watched in horror as it sucked out a blue energy ball out of the man's mouth, the man falling to the ground limp and dead.

"He breached the gate!" Yang Nan shouted in English for everyone to hear.

Xu Xialing let go of Razor Fist who she had been fighting up until that point on the floor.

"Those things are gonna kill us all if we don't work together" she told the man.

"You think Im going to fall for that?" the man responded with a sneer.

"Your weapons are useless against them" Yang Nan warned them.

"We don't need your help. We are the mighty Ten Rings, and any..." Razor Fist stopped himself when Death Dealer (the man who wore a full faced white mask) got his soul sucked out, his weapon doing it no harm when he tried to slash through it.

Another of the small soul sucking creatures went to do the same to Razor Fist who tried to also slash it with his sword arm, the normal weapon phasing through its body. Nan stabbed it with her dragon scale staff killing it in a cloud of violet blue.

"We...We should work together. Release them. Release them!" the man said in a panic.

Madeline looked down at her whip, wondering if it would work on the things and she flicked the weapon at one that was trying to take the soul of a Ta Lo villager, the thing also bursting into a cloud of violet.

"Oooh" she curled the whip back around her wrist as the man thanked her.

"What are they doing?" Xialing asked Nan about the soul suckers.

"Stealing souls to feed the Dweller-in-Darkness" Nan replied, as they all looked up at the creatures that were taking the souls to the gate "If it grows strong enough, it will break right through the gate. That was just the beginning"

"That doesn't sound good" Madeline claimed.

"It isn't" Nan replied when a hum resonated throughout the village. The noise making everyone pause and look up to where the gates were.

Even from down in the valley, the intricate carvings of the dragon scales that formed the gate shone blue in a similar hue to the Ten Rings Wenwu wore, the ground rumbling at each hit from the man trying to throw the gate down. Another soul sucker raised Guang Bo in the air, a few of the Ta Lo villagers shouting as they tried to have their weapons reach the thing.

Madeline saw the Shi Shi lion that had gotten friendly with her before and she ran to it.

"Excuse me Prediletto" she told it (darling).

The animal didn't seem to mind her so she jumped onto its back. She jumped off of its back and hit it with the snake head of her whip.

"Thank you child" the man said as he picked himself off the ground.

Katy marched into the weapons hut and took one of the few remaining bows and a quiver with few arrows to help since the fight had began to escalate as the soul suckers continued to stream out of the fissures of the dark gate.

"It's too dangerous" the elder woman who had taken the bow and arrow from Guang Bo told her.

"I have to help my friends" Katy told her, understanding the severe warning.

"Don't die. Everyone to the water now!" Guang Bo ordered.

"Grazie per avermi permesso di usare la schiena" Madeline thanked the lion as she too followed the others down to the water front (Thank you for your letting me use your back).

From down there they could almost clearly see Wenwu punching the scaled wall of the Dark Gate and letting out more of the small soul suckers.

"Aim at the sky, to win or die!" Guang Bo ordered as the people formed a defending wall. The archers took the front line and drew their bow strings back, knocking their arrows and aiming to the sky.

Madeline saw Katy nervous as she too prepared her arrow on her bow. She saw Guang Bo near her friend and left it up to him to calm her friend down.

"Deep breath" the man told Katy as he noticed it.

Following his advice, Katy took a deep breath, her shoulders lifting as she did, complying with his orders.

The water of the lake ahead began to shake violently, alarming everyone.

Madeline watched as a huge Chinese dragon rose from the depths of the water, Shang Chi holding onto its sides as the large dragon opened its huge maw and flew into the skies, swallowing the smaller groups of soul suckers.

"Shang!" Madeline shouted.

"Draw" Guang Bo ordered again loudly, the archers following his commands and directing their bows higher to the sky.
