"We came out here with Orion that one time, remember?"

Perci nods, the surf swirling around her calves. Beneath the clear water, disturbed sand settles and nearly buries her toes. She looks at Pat, standing beside her, also looking toward the horizon.

"Yeah. He tried to put a message in a bottle but used a plastic one, and you yelled at him for it."

Pat snickers and shakes his head. "Yeah, I did."

The crashing of waves nearly drown out their conversation. So early in the morning, not many people are out at the beach. The few that are don't mind the two strangers standing in the tide.

Pat, melancholic: ...I miss that.

Perci: Miss what?

Pat: The three of us. When the stakes were lower. When we were just...having fun.

Perci: Way to bring down the mood.

Pat: Don't deflect. I don't want to ignore what happened anymore.

Perci: It's not ignoring, it's moving on. He walked away first. Stop waiting for him to come back.

Pat, exasperated: But what if I want to? What if I just want my bes friend back? And what if I want to stop feeling like you're so distant all the time?

Perci: What?

Pat: I feel like there's this wall. Or gap-- I don't care. You say you're over it but avoid talking about him like-- I don't know! We aren't meeting each other where we need to and it's driving me insane.

Perci: Well, maybe I don't want to talk about it, and you should respect that!

Pat: Why not?!

Perci: Weren't you listening? I ssid I don't want to talk about it.

Pat: So you're not over it.

Perci: Fine! Maybe I'm not! That doesn't change the fact I don't want to talk about this.

Pat: Because you're scared you'll miss him if you do.

Cliffhanger for ya :) Same continuity as the Coffee Talk oneshot and Ties.

So we were supposed to write a play scene in which a character tells another character something they've wanted to say for a long time. But I didn't catch the play part snd thought we were just writing a normal scene lol

So that's why it changes to script partway through 👍

Obviously this one isn't done so I'll probably come back to it!!
