Amy has always had a fascination for the mystical arts– especially that of fate and destiny. Her earliest exposure was at the amusement park, when she was five. The fortune teller's tent was draped in regal purples and shining gold, deep blues and gentle pinks. Each tarot card on the low table held a key to her future, a secret only for her to understand. Amy excitedly picked a card, and a mystical force connected her to the stars above, watching over her, waiting to see what she was capable of. The power of tarot is not absolute, only an indication of possibility. It's up to the individual to strive toward the future they want.

Her reading that day said she'd grow into a fine young woman, capable of incredible kindness and bringing about her own change.

On her sixth birthday, her dad bought her a tarot deck, and Amy was over the moon. She performed readings for her family, friends, extended relatives, and even strangers. It didn't matter who, Amy was just happy to share the mystical world with anyone and everyone, inspiring them to bring positive change to their life. She seemed to almost always be right as well. Her parents joked that maybe she really did have an affinity for the divine, but Amy wholeheartedly believed in it. If she could be just like that mysterious yet kind fortune teller, able to make people glow with possibility and hope, she'd never ask for anything more.

When she was eight, Amy did a reading for love. She admittedly had fallen for a boy in her class, and just had to consult her cards to see if they were meant to be. The reading said she'd fall in love with a hero at a mystical lake. Never Lake, a lake full of promises and purity, sat in a national park, its glassy surface creating rainbows of sunlight in the day, and a rippling painting of the galaxy at night. And Amy knew that must have been the place. That summer, she and her parents drove up to the highlands and made a vacation out of it.

That day, the clouds parted so the sun could shine down on her. She hummed to herself, picking wildflowers in her pink summer dress as the long grass tickled at her legs. She waited by the lakeside with her flowers while her parents set up a picnic nearby. Even as they were eating, Amy would look up every minute and scanned the area for him. Waiting for him to come to her.

And just as they were about to leave, he did.

He wore red sneakers and sported the most brilliant smile she’d ever seen, with bright green eyes that were two tiny suns. Their parents talked while they played pretend and ran around the lake. She was a princess and he was the brave knight who would save her, brandishing his trusty stick-sword. She gave him the flowers she picked earlier and he happily accepted them a big grin. He had dimples, too. He went to a different school than she did, but still lived close enough that they could meet up on the weekends. When it was time to go, he said he couldn’t wait until they got to play together again.

And she knew that he was the one.

Surprise! It's actually Sonamy.

We got some options for a writing assignment and one of them was to write about how fortune telling and divination changed a character's life. And I remembered Amy does tarot readings and met Sonic because of a reading and absolutely had to write about that.

Humanized because. You know. But yeah this is a cute piece :)

Okay bye 💜
