Time seems to escape you when all there is to do is look at a wall.
I had managed to move, leaning up against the window behind me, my day had consisted of listening to Bucky and Logan argue over everything that existed under the godforsaken sun, counting the cracks in the plaster, there's three hundred twenty-nine if you were wondering, and replaying the moment Steve saw that photo over in my brain. It was on repeat it felt like, every time I closed my eyes I saw the spark in Steve's die out, and I just hoped he hadn't given up on looking for me, because I wasn't going to give up trying to get back to him.
"That is the stupidest idea I have ever heard of," Bucky muttered, and just like that my peace was disrupted, "you think putting her on the phone with Steve is going to be a good idea? I don't know if you noticed, but you're brother is so whipped by her that he'll do everything he can to find her."
"Isn't that the point?" Logan argued back, "You want to be the knight in shining armor Barnes, here's your fucking shot, I leave in two hours to go back west, I can't be locked up in this shoe box with you and her for the rest of my life."
"I'd like to put my input in-" I started, flinching back immediately when they yelled no at me.
"You sit there and shut the hell up," Bucky pointed at me and I put my hands up in defense, "you're more of a nuisance at this point than a benefit, you're listed as a missing person."
I smiled, looking down at my hands, I didn't want them to see the smug smile on my lips. I knew Steve wouldn't give up, he loved me too much to not ever see me again, especially with his first game at the end of the week. "Well," I let out a breathy laugh, "I always did love to irritate you, glad to see I don't have to do anything and I still get under your skin."
"Sofia shut up!" Bucky barked at me, his neck flushing red while I raised my eyebrows at him.
"Or what Barnes? Gonna hit me? Gonna punch me? Gonna set this apartment on fire with me in it?"
And yeah okay maybe I wasn't the smartest for goading him, but I was over this stupid game we were playing. Bucky knew I would never be with him, Logan seemed to have accepted that but is now in the deep end with Barnes, but now it was a matter of wills. Who would be quicker, smarter, faster? The answer was me, I had always outmaneuvered the Phantoms, and I would again, I just needed to get out of this apartment and get a view of my surroundings.
Bucky stormed over to me, only to meet Logan's hands when he shoved him back. "Don't fucking touch her Barnes, you said she wasn't going to get hurt, you put your hands on her, and I turn all of us in."
"Now you're gonna take her side?" Bucky scoffed, turning on his heel to head back toward the door, "She better be here by the time I get back with the car Logan, I mean it," I squinted my eyes when Bucky pulled the door open, the somewhat dark room brightening to the point it was painful, it must be midday by the brightness of the sky, "I will burn down hell if she's gone, are we fucking clear kid?"
"I'm not fucking moving her!" Logan yelled back and I screamed, silencing both of them.
"Shut the fuck up, both of you!" I was so irritated, tired, and hungry. I just wanted to go home, I wanted all of this nightmare to be over, I was exhausted, my body ached, and I wanted Steve. "I can't take your bullshit arguing, just shut up so I can go back to the blissful silence you two keep interrupting, go get your stupid car, I'm not going to run, I don't know where I am, and Logan go sit down and read or something, just shut up."
