Sean and Deon had finally made it to the party, it was 10:30p.m and college students swarmed the inside and outside of the frat party. Sean sat on the outside patio drinking his poison out of a plastic cup.

It was crowded on the inside and the moving every minute to make room for the sororities and fraternities to scroll started to irritate him.

"Baby Wyd" by Nardo Wick boomed through the speaker and Sean nodded his head to the beat as he took in the scenery.

Soon his eyes landed on Zoey. She was in deep conversation with Paris with a drink in her hand. Ever since his mom informed him that she had spoken with her the two hadn't seen or talked to each other, and he prayed it stayed that way.

Deon walked away from him a couple of minutes ago to find Taylor, leaving him alone on the patio. He didn't mind.

Sean continued to drink from his cup when he saw a girl walk up, the same girl from the library. She had on a crop top, some shorts, and some sandals, her locs were in a neat style.

He could tell she was uncomfortable by the way she had her arms crossed over her stomach as if she were trying to hide her skin. Milan sat down on the couch.

"You good?" Sean asked as he looked over at Milan, he wanted to ask why she didn't text him but decided against it.

"I'm fine." Was all Milan said. She knew that it was the boy who asked for her number today, she felt bad about texting him. "I'm sorry for not texting you earlier."

"You still have time." Sean smiled making Milan blush.

The two made small talk until an outside voice greeted Sean.

"Wassup man."

"Hey man, what you on?" Sean question as the two locked hands.

Milan looked up to see Elijah.

Elijah gave her a head nod, "Wassup?"

Milan only rolled her eyes. Sean watched the scene unfold and wondered why she gave him the cold shoulder, Elijah seemed cool to him.

They met in one of his classes his freshman year and helped each other pass. Ever since then they'd speak and even have conversations with each other.

Elijah laughed and looked back at Sean, "Are you enjoying the party?"

"Yeah, I'm vibing man." Sean answered.

"You better get up off your ass and go get with one of these bitches out here. You know they on go." Elijah laughed.

Milan scoffed and Sean lifted one of his brows. He had never seen Elijah talk like they, he figured it had something to do with the red cup in his hand.

Elijah looked over at Milan when he heard her reaction to his statement, "The shoe must fit."

Milan stood up and walked into the party at a quick pace. Sean stood up when he saw her practically run inside of the house.

"You're wrong man." Sean informed Elijah who only took a drink from his cup.

He wasn't worried about Milan and her animosity for him.

Sean dodged many people as he tried to locate Milan. When he had finally found her she was on the sidewalk of the house with her head in her hands.

He stood over her and looked around, he wasn't the best at comforting others but he knew how to listen and give positive feedback.

Sean decided to sit beside her, he watched the cars pass them by before speaking.

"Are you ok?"

Milan knew it was Sean, she recognized his gruff voice.

"And don't 'I'm fine' me either." He mocked her words from earlier.

Milan finally lifted her head, "I'm just tired of people. I try to be this outgoing person, get to know people, and get out of my shell and it backfires." Milan expressed.

Sean looked over at her as she spoke. He couldn't relate to what she was saying, but he knew how people could be. He wasn't the best person by far but he tried to do right by people.

"Maybe you need to change who you hang around." Sean suggested.

Milan looked over at him. Was he insisting that she became friends with him?

"To who? You?"

Sean shrugged his shoulders, "I think I'm a good friend. I have my ways but I'm still growing."

"Accountability. I like that." Milan cheesed.

"So what did my man Eli do to not have the privilege to see that smile?"

Milan cringed when she heard his name.

"I don't even want to talk about it."

"Okay," Sean nodded, he wouldn't force her but he had one more question, "Y'all must've had something going on."

"He thinks we did. We didn't."

"Ahh, well what would it take for us to actually have something?"

"What happened to being friends?" Milan challenged.

"We can do it that way too. I just want to be able to see that smile."

Milan shook her head at his reply, "I'm going to text you right now."

Paris and Zoey exited the party standing in front of the house, they were trying to find Milan since they didn't see her out on the patio.

"Where did she disappear that fa-" Zoey was cut off abruptly.

"Oh, I see her." Paris smirked seeing her sitting next to a boy on the sidewalk.

Zoey's eyebrows furrowed when she caught the side profile of Sean. Furious was an understatement.
