"Chris?"
I had asked her in the morning after she stayed the night. I had let her sleep in my bed as I slept on the floor. Sitting up, I hear her silently crying as she faces the other wall. "You okay?" I had asked, focusing my attention on her as I stood up and sat on the bed. "I'll be fine," she had eventually told me. "I just wish that my father knows I'm his daughter and that he accepts it," Chris had told me as she sat up and faced me. "I'm sure everything will be okay," I had told her as I had heard my bedroom door open to reveal Hector. "Dad," I had let out, getting up from the bed and sitting down on the floor. "What's going on here?" Hector had asked with his left hand still on the doorknob. "What's Chris doing here?" Hector had asked me as if she wasn't here. "I'm sorry," Chris had let out, but Hector was starting to act as if she wasn't here at all. "Alex, don't forget about Rose," Hector had told me, reminding me of her. I had completely forgot about her. I've been so busy taking care of everything else that I forget to spend time with my kid. "You wanted to keep her, and now you just go and throw it away?" Hector had asked me, with tears starting to fill his eyes. Looking back at Chris as I stand up, I realize what Hector was thinking. "Dad, I swear we didn't," I had told Hector, looking back at him with pleading eyes. "Chris, I want you out of here now. I never want to see you again," Hector had told Chris with a blank face. After Chris had stood up from the bed, she walked towards the door, but I grabbed onto her hand, and tried to tell her, "Don't go." Letting go of my hand, I saw her walk past Hector, through the door, and straight to the entrance. The last thing I heard was the front door closing behind her. "Alex, there's a reason-" Hector had started, but I had cut him off with, "Why are you so mean to your daughter?" Crap, I shouldn't have said that out-loud. Giving me a wide-eyed stare, I don't say anything. I grab my phone from the top of my dresser and walk out of there without saying anything.
"You come back here young man!" Hector exclaimed as I walked to the front door to get my coat. I needed to talk with someone, and I didn't want to talk to Ellie. "Alex, explain why you would say something like that," Hector had told me as I had zipped my coat up. I didn't want to talk to him. Grabbing the door, I open it up and walk out of there without saying a word to Hector. "Alex, get back here!" I had heard Hector exclaim as I walked down the path to the sidewalk. Turning around and facing him, I point both my middle fingers up into the air while the rest of my fingers are folded down, instead of opening my mouth. Once he had closed the door, I had heard him running towards Ellie who was probably still in their bedroom. As Hector was probably going to tell Ellie that I've gone crazy, I started running. I don't know where I'm running, but I just do. Finally at a good distance, I get my phone out. Remembering how Jasmine and James were the only other ones that knew that Amy and Chris were actually older than they are, I pull up Jasmine's phone number and call her. She's the only one that I can go to. "Jasmine? It's Alex," I tell as she answers the phone. "Alex? What's going on?" She had asked on the other end. "I need to speak with you. You are the only other one that knows about Amy and Chris's true age, and I just ticked off my dad," I had told her. "You can come over. James isn't here so it'll just be the two of us," Jasmine had told me before hanging up. Not knowing where she lives, I then get a text with an address from her. "Okay," I quietly muttered to myself before heading off.
