A Walk In The Park

Later that night Cassie was walking home from Lia's house when she heard the yelling of oddly familiar teens.

"Oh my god everyone at school is gonna see this" a squeaky voice said while laughing. It was Zack, one of Cassie annoying classmates.

"Hey stop" Cassie heard a piercing cry then a crack and as she crept over to the scene she saw Kenny in a squirrel costume and Anthony's phone on the ground.

"What the hell" Cassie whispered to herself as she hid behind a nearby tree.

"Dude! my phone! Ohhh you're so gonna pay for that" Anthony said looking angry. Before Jenny could run, Zach and Markus grabbed him and held him back.

"Punch him LaPusso" Zach said. Anthony looked at Kenny to ready his fist and swung. But the punch never made contact

Cassie did not know how but she ran from behind the tree that she was using to hide herself and suddenly she was standing there Holding Anthony's fist. She stood in shocked, she didn't notice Anthony's other fist fly to her face and hit her square in the eye.

Cassie snapped into anger and started to beat the shit out of LaRusso, he could barely fight back which was a little surprising since his whole family was good at karate.

"Run Kenny! Just go I got it" Cassie yelled in between punches. She was getting ganged up on, at this point two of the four had run away, but Zach and Anthony were still trying to get punches in even though Anthony was on the ground.

"I thought you knew karate" Zach yelled as he kicked his foot into Cassie's stomach. Knocking the wind from her for a moment. Cassie recovered quick and kicked Zach's knee causing him to hit the ground in a thud.

"I do, I do" Anthony was flustered and embarrassed. He was getting his ass kicked. "Would you just shut up" he yelled back all shaky. Cassie's fist reconnected with Anthony's face harder than the last punch.

"That's it I'm out" Zach booked it out of the park before getting a response. It was just Anthony and Cassie now and Cassie had him pinned on the ground.

"Don't mess with my friends LaPusso or next time I'll bring your sister cause she can actually fight."Cassie laughed. The metallic taste of blood from her cut lip took over her mouth. "Maybe that's why your parents love her more cause at least she's someone to be proud of " Cassie was mad, more mad at a person than she had been in a long time. She didn't have control of what she said. Anthony looked at her with pain showing across his face, not because of the punches that were still coming his way, but from Cassie's words. Instantly Cassie regretted everything. The punches stopped. A beat of silence pasted through the two. Cassie jumped back from Anthony, gave him one more sharp look and ran out of the park.

When she got home she walked past the empty living room and into her room. She looked in her desk top mirror and saw a bruise forming on her left eye. It hurt but not as bad as Anthony and Zach's. Zach's nose was bleeding bad and Anthony's lip and eye were busted up. For some weird reason though she couldn't stop thinking about what she said to Anthony and how hurt he looked. She regretted it and knew she went too far. For some reason she felt bad about it even though he was being an ass.

Later that night Cassie was in the living room watching a movie with an ice pack on her eye when her dad came in with Miguel following behind.

"Oh hey kid why are you still up" Cassie's dad said walking to the fridge to grab a beer.

"And what happened to your eye" Miguel asked noticing almost instantly that something was wrong. He was leaning over the back of the couch with his head close enough to mine that he could inspect the injury.

"I'm fine I just fell on a tree root on my way home" Cassie lied. She knew that if she told them the truth about getting into a fight with Anthony LaRusso, Miguel would be mad. He was dating Anthony's sister, Sam. He already hated how much Cassie talked down on Anthony, this fight would really get him pissed off.

"Ok well be careful" Miguel said patting me on the shoulder.

"Ok go to bed you have school tomorrow" my dad walked over to the couch and pushed my legs off to make room for himself.

"Yeah yeah. goodnight guys" Cassie sighed, rolling off the couch with a groan. She made it too her room and flopped on her bed getting under the covers. The thought of Anthony's face after Cassie said what she said, was all that replayed in Cassie's mind as she tossed and turned all night. The worst part was she didn't understand why.
