Chapter 4: Adrianna

It was thundering. I hate thunder! It was because of that I was up at 5 in the morning completely freaked out and hiding in my bed. Percy gave me a ring “Hey morning honey, are you okay?” He asked and I could feel the tension in his voice.

“Yeah, I’m cool…”I said straightening my voice and building confidence. “You should sleep you know, don’t you have a revision test this morning?”

“Yeah, the teachers can’t really see us free …I’ll wake up in some time and prepare…try to sleep okay...” He said but I knew that sleep was not going to come back now so I started unpacking my luggage.

After like an hour or so, I walked to Daemon’s room. The hallway was dark and spooky, this area of the dorm didn’t get much sunlight, so the area was shady and plus it was still drizzling so it gave it a gloomy look with its wet corridors and creaky doors. In my shorts, T-shirt and jogging shoes I banged at his door. Standing alone in the corridor gave me the creeps, after a minute of banging, a guy opened the door.

“Xavier right...Daemon’s up?” Confused he shook his head. “Okay, no problem, open the door…” Before he questioned again, I pushed the door and got in. The room was pretty clean but I knew this state wouldn’t remain for a long time, after all boys will be boys.

I saw Daemon cuddled up in his bed sound asleep so I took his blanket and pulled it away. He woke up with a shock. “Wow, you’ve been working out huh?” I teased as I saw him half naked in his boxers. But he did have those six packs huh. Angry and startled he said, “How would you feel if I pulled your blankets while you were in your bed!!”

“Hah! No problem, I don’t sleep nude!” I replied with a smile. “Now get up! Let’s go for a jog!” I said as he kept a cushion over his head. I could see Xavier already fast asleep in his bed.

I jumped on Daemon’s bed but still he didn’t budge. “How long do you plan to be in there?!” I hit him. “Join me” was all he said as he pulled me down.

“Gross!!” I said pulling away. “You wake up now or I swear you’ll be covered water!”

“Okay princess, I’m up! Jog huh…okay give me 5 minutes!” He said giving up. “I missed you, nobody woke me up this early for a jog back home” He laughed.

In 15 minutes we were down on the ground jogging like we always used too. I loved this place after it rained. I liked the wet ground, fresh leaves, everything looked fresh and new after a shower. We jogged out way through the beach and talked about what we did in the holidays. Daemon was my best friend. We had always been there for each other especially after the accident last year. If it wasn’t for him, I would have been dead. And plus Percy was good friends with him too so we kind of became this trio when we were alone.

“Dad bought me a new car, sort of a bribe for not telling mum about his affair.” He told me. He hated his house like we hated ours which was another thing which was common between us.

“Did you tell her?” I asked as he looked away knowing it was a no. I understood as I knew why. He knew his mom was not strong enough to take it and I ended the topic there.

“HELP HELP HELP!” Suddenly, I heard a shriek from within the forest. “Did you hear that?” I asked Daemon.

“Hear what?” He said. I again heard that shriek “HELP HELP HELP”

“Now did you hear it? I think it came from the forests…” I said running towards the forest.

 “Hear what Rianna…where are you going?” He ran behind me. I ran in the forests. Some fresher must be lost in it. The forests were dense and it was easy to get lost, I knew. I ran to the area where the shriek could have come from.

“Hey wait!” Daemon pulled my hand. “What’s wrong?” He asked flustered.

“Didn’t you hear the shriek? I think someone’s lost in here…” I said looking for the person.

“Rianna what shriek? I heard nothing…come let’s get out of here” He started pulling me.

“No wait! Let me look…” I said as I ran ahead looking for the person. I search the entire beach area of the forest but I couldn’t find anyone. “Is anyone here?” I called. My head started hurting as I searched. After some time, I finally gave up. I looked behind and Daemon wasn’t there.

“Daemon...” I called. I walked back but I couldn’t see him anywhere. “Daemon…okay I’m scared now…where are you?” I said completely freaked out. The forests weren’t safe, everyone knew that. Legends tell that a girl had disappeared in the forests and a month later her body was found. I was almost was on the verge of crying when something grab me from behind. I gave out a shriek and turned “It’s just me…” Daemon said. He looked completely terrified but tried to cover it with anger. “Why the hell did you run away…what in the world were you thinking!” He shouted and suddenly the trees started shaking and a branch fell right next to me.

“Let’s get out of here!”He said looking around.

“I was so scared…” I said clinched to him horrified to my veins. “Come on let’s move…”He said as we walked out.

“You really didn’t hear that scream?” I asked him.

“No! I did not! Don’t you dare run away like that again…” He replied as we walked out to the beach.
