『1:49 PM』
"What time do you get out?"
"At 2."
"Oh you're almost out of here." Mipha said as she packed a croissant into a goodie bag for Drive-Thru.
"Yeah, I can't wait."
"Doing anything fun after this?"
"Ehh not really," I shrugged grabbing the spray bottle and rag underneath the cash register. "Probably just study for my Stats exam."
"Well good luck."
I went to go wipe down some tables after Mipha left. Most of the café was empty. The lunch rush was pretty much over, with only a few people still here. That's when I heard the café's door opening.
I walked back to the register to greet the customer.
However, when I got there I was met with the prettiest girl I had ever seen.
She had golden locks that framed her angelic face perfectly. Her gentle eyes looked to me as she approached.
"Hello," she said cheerfully.
She set her two books onto the counter as she stared at the menu board above me.
"He-hey," I said. "What would you like?"
"I'm not entirely sure," she said a little embarrassed. "Do you have any recommendations?"
"Oh, the strawberry poppyseed salad is my favorite. It had a bunch of fruit plus it's perfect for a sunny day like today."
The girl moved a stray hair out of her face and told me that she'd go with that.
"I would also like a peach smoothie, please."
"Alright. Your food should be ready in a couple of minutes."
"Thank you," she said as she paid and turned to pick a seat.
"Well, she's pretty."
I felt my face heat up as my manager's voice sounded behind me.
"Don't sneak up on me like that, Link," I playfully slapped his shoulder.
"You know I couldn't resist. But I'm serious, go talk to her."
"I wouldn't want to bother her or anything," I said bashfully.
"(Name)," Link nagged. "Go, you're almost out of here anyways. Besides hasn't it been forever since you-"
"Alright, alright, I get it. No need to bring my dating life into it, Mr. Manager."
I walked around the counter and saw that she left her books. I was too busy staring at her and trying not to fumble around her to notice, but this gave me the best opportunity to talk to her,
"Hi again, miss," I said with a faint blush on my face. "You left these by the register."
"Oh thanks," the girl grabbed them from me and the second our hands touched I saw her get a little flustered.
This girl is so adorable.
"By the way, I'm almost done with my shift if you want some company."
"Oh, I'd love that. I almost never get to spend any time with anyone other than my books. You know, life of a college kid."
"I totally get that. My boss was actually just making fun of me for the same reason."
The blonde laughed as I sat in the chair across from her.
"By the way, my name's Zelda."
"I'm (Name)."
"That's so pretty."
"Aww, thank you and you too. Zelda has such a nice ring to it, but I'm sure you hear that all the time. Anyway, where do you go?"
"Ordona. It's an hour or 2 from here. And yeah, but I'm sure you hear that too. (Name) is so unique, I almost never meet anyone with that name anymore."
"I guess so, it used to be so popular during middle school but I guess it kinda just died out or something."
"I think it fits you though," Zelda said with a smile. "A pretty name for a pretty cashier."
"Oh thank you," I blushed.
We spent what felt like forever just chatting and laughing. I even got her phone number. It turned out, we went to the same high school. I felt a little embarrassed I didn't know, but in my defense I kinda lived in my own little bubble for most of high school.
"So where do you go?"
"I'm a freshman at Hateno University. It's like 20 minutes from here."
Before the two of us knew it, it was already dark out. It had been so long since I had such a good time with someone other than one of my co-workers. Zelda got her stuff and we started for the café's exit.
"Thanks again for hanging out with me, I really enjoyed this."
"Me too," I grabbed the door for her. "I hope we get to do this again sometimes."
"I hope so too."
