Link was my best friend.
We had been best friends since I came to college. A lot of people asked us if we were dating because we were so close. I guess I could kinda see how people saw it.
We always studied together. We always walked each other to our classes. We were always together.
He was actually the reason why I joined the tennis team. In my freshman year, I wanted a little break from tennis, so I didn't join. I felt that high school a lot of the fun got sucked out, so I used last year as an opportunity to rediscover my love for tennis.
I was hitting against the wall one day, when Link accidentally hit me with a basketball in the gym. I turned around a little stunned and saw the most golden retriever boy I have ever seen in my life.
It wasn't like I was going to yell at him for doing it. But as soon as I locked eyes with him, I knew it was an accident and he was extremely sorry. In fact, he apologized profusely.
He ended up taking me to one of the on-campus cafes to make up for it.
"It's really okay. I promise."
"I know, but I still feel bad."
"I guess I just won't stand near you when you play basketball again." I laughed.
"And I won't shoot next time you're that close again."
"Glad we have an agreement." I said sipping my iced latte.
"You know, you're not bad."
"At what drinking lattes?"
Link burst out laughing. I didn't think it was that funny, but maybe that was just because I had said it.
"I meant tennis. You should totally join the team."
"You're funny." I say rolling my eyes. "Maybe next year."
"I'll hold you to that."
"Oh no, what have I done?" I say in an overdramatic tone.
"Hey, it's not that bad. I'm on the team and we could always use more girls. Plus, a lot of girls are seniors so we could really use you."
"Hmm..."
"We could play together during off seasons if you want."
And we did, all through the year, Link and I would play tennis together. I think that's how we got so close. I also think that's why everyone thought we were dating. But at the end of the day, Link and were just friends.

Link was there the night that everything went down.
"Where's Dark?" Link asked.
"Oh, he's with Hilda." I said turning the page of the little instruction book.
Link and I were sitting on his floor doing some Legos. We had bought a set after the tennis match today. I didn't play, but he won his. So, we went to the nearest store to get him a set.
Link and I loved doing Legos together. It was kind of our thing, that and tennis. Dark and I had our times we'd be paried up, but tennis was really my thing with Link. It's not like Dark minded though, he knew Link and I were a better team.
