"Hello?"

"Baby, hey. Have you heard yet?"

"Heard what?"

"Samira, she got into shit at school." Rustling is heard in the background. "I'm on my way. They requested for us and Angela."

I wrinkle my brows, I was preparing a prescription for a patient when Normani suddenly called me. I knew it was something because never texts while I'm on the job. I don't even know how to act or respond. It's like my mind is lagging in the reaction department. It takes a few seconds for this to click.

I scoff, "Normani, what?"

"The girl skipped school and was caught at a gas station in a sketchy neighborhood with I don't even know how many other kids. Possible weed, I don't know. They won't tell me any more."

"Nigga, what?!"

I realize I'm a little too loud when our reception int looks back at me with a face. I whisper an apology and step into the break room.

"Calm down. Let's not get into any aggressive modes. I'm about to go and let my professor know I finished this exam early online and go and see if I can get ahold of Angela. Geez."

"Right, Let me handle my supervisor and then I'll be on my way, or do you wanna come get me?"

"I'll come get you!"

The anxiety is evident in her voice. I quickly get my manager on the line and declare a family emergency and clock out for the day. She understood completely and she basically shoved me out the door insisting I got home. I can't grab my backpack and lunchbox fast enough.

What pissed me off the most was the smirking and giggling I heard as I was driving her home. Normani was in the front seat just broken down crying.

It caused Normani's anxiety to spike. And honestly I have such anger but I understand I can't just go off on her. It's so counter productive. I need to sit and think out a plan of action that will actually get through to her. I need something, no, I need some time to think. Honestly. I can barely even drive correctly.

Right now I'm just sitting at the barstools in the kitchen with Normani while she's upstairs. Normani has been pretty much speechless. I understand so. I helped her take a seat and got her some ice cold punch. It helped a little.

She was in fact in the projects from some reason, posted up with some guys. I bargained with the police so she wouldn't get cuffed and shoved in the back of a cop car. It was so difficult to I don't even know what she was doing on the block, she still doesn't want to say. And Angela cussed me out on the phone when I insisted she show up. She said it was our business since she wanted to run to Normani and I.
