Oh man! I'm so so so nervous! The first show is tonight and it's packed! I peeked through a crack of the curtains to find my parents and they're sitting on the front row. Far back from a few seats there's also scouts from agencies who the Quinn teachers are familiar with.
This is so, so cool! I mean, I highly doubt that they'd be willing to scout for freshmen since this is mostly just for seniors alone. I closed the curtains back up and sighed to myself. Pacing back and forth.
It's okay. It's going to be okay, deep breath in, deep breath out. In and out. In and out. Think happy thoughts. Go to your happy place.
I felt a tap on my shoulder, "Uraraka?" I jolted from the touch and had my arms flat out in the air, preparing myself to fight. I eased myself when I realized that it was just Iida and Deku.
"You almost ready?" Iida inquired with a worried look.
"Uh-huh. I just didn't expect there to be a lot of people, I think I just saw someone that doesn't even go here," I took another look through the curtain.
Then Deku closed the curtains before my eyes. "You're not looking for the agents are you?"
"Why would she be looking for them? They're only here for the seniors, if I'm not mistaken." Iida asked.
Truth be told, I haven't been shutting up about scout agents since I overheard the Quinn teachers a few weeks prior before the play started.
"Okay then... I'm gonna head up to the booth, so... catch you later!" Deku stated as he rushed past backstage.
"I better get ready too, I'll see you up on stage," he headed back towards a vanity mirror, probably to touch up some makeup from backstage crew.
Speaking of which, I better get ready, tech has to play a shadow performance. I don't know why we couldn't have a younger version of us to play the role. But then I remembered the last time they tried to get child actors and they had to pay up to a thousand dollars. I mean seriously, what were the parents thinking?! Apparently, it was the parents that made them pay a thousand dollars.
So therefore they vow to never hire a child actor again. Okay, get in places!
I stayed by the side of the stage with the other stage crew members. The Quinn teachers stepped out of the curtain with microphones in their hands.
Ms. Quinn spoke up first, "Hello, and welcome to our opening night for 'Anastasia'! We've decided to do a mix between the musical and movie versions to make things a bit different with the story we all know and love."
Then Mr. Quinn stepped in front of his sister, "With that in mind, please turn your cell phones off and do not record this play while watching. Please be respectful and just sit back and watch." No response, only a light cough appeared in the crowd.
The Quinn teachers headed to the side of the stage, while the stage crew members were raising the curtains up.
Okay, for the first night, it wasn't so bad. We got everything right and the audience adored the show. Though, there was that one moment where someone said "Marry me, Anastasia!" I didn't know how to respond to that to a stranger. But I managed to pull it off. So, hey, a win is a win as some say.
Someone knocked on the wooden vanity, I perked my head up to find Iida, fondly smiling up at me. "You were great out there."
"Thanks," I replied as I wiped the makeup off my face, "And so were you, the audience was totally captivated by you."
He rolled his eyes playfully, "Nuh-uh."
"Iida, five girls went up to you and asked you to take pictures with them and get an autograph from you. You were so incredible out there!" I praised him.
