Gabby's POV

I've always loved parties, especially in my teenage years. Of course, the parties I attended back then were filled with drugs, sex, alcohol, and bad decisions. With music was so loud you could barely think but that's what we needed. In that life, you need to make sure you can't think because thinking can turn you against the one thing you want most in life. So I listened to music, used drugs, and had my fair share of one-night stands.

I thought I'd be attending those types of parties for the rest of my life but I was wrong. Man, if Ginger could see the new Gabby she'd shit her pants and then die of laughter.

"Okay, Gabby's turn!" Amber says as somebody hands me a spool of ribbon.

I eye Amber's large stomach as I take the ribbon off the spool. I think this game is stupid, but Amber wanted to play it so I planned it. I've become Amber's right-hand woman when it comes to party planning which is hilarious because, before Shorty's wedding, I'd never planned anything in my life. But now I've got a wedding and a watermelon-themed baby shower under my belt.

Yes, the theme of this baby shower is watermelon, but in Amber's defense, it is summer time so it is in season. And, watermelon is one of the only foods she's craved and can keep down throughout the pregnancy. So, it's only fitting, and honestly, I think we pulled it off very tastefully.

"Jesus, how big do you people think I am?" Amber asks as I finally cut the ribbon. We are playing a game where we have to guess how much ribbon it will take to wrap around Amber's belly once and the person who gets the closest wins a prize. I'm not that excited about the prizes since I'm the one that bought them, but for Amber, I'll play along. This pregnancy has been really hard on her since her diagnosis of HG and now that the symptoms are more mild we all want her to enjoy the last few months of this pregnancy. She deserves that and so much more.

"Well somewhere between Moby Dick and a submarine," Grace jokes.

"Are you serious?" Amber shoots with an offended look on her face. Grace's face drops and she stutters as she tries to find a way to apologize but Amber only laughs. "I much prefer being compared to an elephant. They are much more majestic than a fictional whale."

"My apologies," Grace laughs as I pass her the spool of ribbon. I've been running around all day to ensure everything is perfect and everything is going smoothly. There are only ten people in attendance and it's at the clubhouse so planning wasn't that tough. But of course, it had to be as over the top as possible.

After everyone cuts a piece of ribbon, we take turns going up to Amber and trying to wrap the ribbon around her. We giggle and make sarcastic comments as some only wrap halfway around her body and some can make two full loops. When it was my turn, I walked up to her and the huge smile that adorned her round face and rosy cheeks. I always thought the 'pregnancy glow' was bull shit, but today I get it. She's so happy it is oozing out of her pores and radiating to the rest of us.

It's impossible to be sad today, not that I'm ever sad anymore. Axe and I have been official for a month. One solid month of pure happiness, love, and lots of sex. It's magical, really. It's more than I ever thought I deserved, but I'm beginning to accept that maybe happiness is in the cards for me. Maybe life isn't about what someone deserves or karma. Maybe the universe believes in second chances.

"Oh, I think Gabby got it!" Amber says which pulls me out of the trance I slipped into. I finally realize the ribbon I handed Amber has wrapped almost perfectly around her belly with just an inch of overlap.

"How the hell did you do that?" Beth, our sister chapter's first lady, asks. A few of the old ladies from the Smithville chapter came since Blade is so close with their president Grim.
