"𝗛𝗢𝗪'𝗦 𝗠𝗬 𝗕𝗔𝗕𝗬𝗚𝗜𝗥𝗟 𝗗𝗢𝗜𝗡'? 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗔𝗜𝗡'𝗧 𝗧𝗢𝗢 𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗢𝗡 𝗬𝗔, 𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗧?" Raquel asked through the jail phone, smiling fondly at her daughter, as Robyn smiled back at her and pushed her side-parted black hair over her shoulder.
"i should be askin' you that, ma. but i'm doin' good. keepin' my head high and keepin' my foot on these bitches necks as usual, you feel me?" Robyn joked as she and Raquel let out laughs in sync.
as everyone already knows, Raquel - also known as "Raq" - was the leader of one of the biggest drug operations in the Southside, Unique being the second. life wasn't always kittens and rainbows for Raquel's children, but their lives quickly changed once Raquel got busted and charged with several counts of different drug-related charges when Robyn was 18 and Kanan was 16.
nobody knew how the cops got evidence on Raquel until she was sentenced to life in prison, and it was revealed that Scrappy was an informant for the police. after the Thomas family was aware of this, Scrappy's life was quickly cut short, which didn't surprise any of the police officers - especially Detective Howard - because they knew it was a murder in retaliation.
after Raquel was sentenced, Robyn quickly took over as the leader of the drug operation with the help of her uncles Lou-Lou and Marvin, and this created the street name "Seven" for Robyn since it was her childhood nickname due to her lucky number being the number 7.
all of that was 7 - no pun intended - years ago, and Raquel's - now Robyn's - operation was still thriving and still in competition with Unique's. Robyn still kept Kanan in check whenever he did something out of line and she still went to visit her mother multiple times throughout the year, something she's done since she got arrested.
though she'd never see her outside of prison again, Robyn's bond with her mother remained strong, and she refused to let it diminish just because of a prison sentence.
"that's good, i'm glad you doin' it up. don't let nobody see you frown, they'll be quick to use that shit against you. how's business been?" Raquel asked, twirling the cord of the telephone, as Robyn slyly checked her surroundings before looking back at her mother.
