Chapter 8

Y/N was in the barn working on a new project. A beverage most people can't go a day without it, Cola. This was Y/N's forty-sixth attempt.

Y/N: "Woo hoo! Finally, I got the recipe right! Now if only I had some ice…oh well. Pretty soon I might be able to make more flavors." He ran out of the barn to the house and saw Anne talking to Hop Pop.

Anne: "Hey Hop Pop, old buddy, old pal."

Hop Pop: "What do you want?"

Anne: "Oh nothing, I was just thinking. Doesn't this house feel empty to you?"

Hop Pop and Y/N looked at the dirty dishes sitting on the sink.

Hop Pop: "Not exactly."

Anne: "Wouldn't it be nice to have a sweet, fuzzy, loving, critter around?"

Hop Pop: "A pet!?"

Anne: "Great idea Hop Pop."

Hop Pop turned around and pointed the meat cleaver at her. "No pets! Every time we get one Sprig and Polly swear they're gonna take care of it. Like this one spider we had Charlie Big Bottom."

Y/N: "Hahaha! Charlie Big Bottom! That's the best name for a spider!"

Hop Pop: "Sure they were there for all the cuddling and the snuggling but who gets stuck doing all the work? Good old Hop Pop that's who. I swear to frog, whoever brings a fuzzy critter into this house will be on dung duty for a month!"

He then started going on a rant about Charlie Big Bottom as Y/N walked over to Anne and pulled her outside where Spring was with a caterpillar that looked a lot like Domino.

Y/N: "Alright, tell me what happened?"

Anne: "Sprig and I were outside slicing melons with a scythe when we found this really cute caterpillar that looks exactly like Domino."

Y/N: "Mmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I'll help you anyway I can."

Anne: "Good because we're going to have to sneak her inside."

Sprig: "I have a question. Should we be concerned about this?" He lifted up his leg as Domino 2 was biting it.

Anne: "That is called play biting, isn't it cute?"

Sprig: "Yeah, kinda seems like she's tasting me." He said, trying to shake Domino off.

Anne: "That's ridiculous, trust me. I know cats."

Y/N: "You told me that when we went on a field trip to the zoo. And you know what happened? A tiger bit my arm."

Anne: "It was a baby tiger! I'm still jealous you were the one who held them."

Y/N: "I was the only one out of the thirty students in class who wrote a report a week before we went to the zoo."

Sprig: "Alright, if you say so." He opened the door seeing Hop Pop still ranting about Charlie Big Bottom. He gives Anne and Y/N a signal to go down the basement.

While we were sneaking to the basement Domino 2 sneezed alerting Hop Pop.

Hop Pop: "What was that!?" He turned around and saw no one until Anne pushed Y/N and Sprig into his sight.

Y/N: "Hey Hop Pop, out of curiosity. What was the worst thing Charlie Big Bottom ever did."

Sprig: "Since we're talking about Charlie Big Bottom."

Hop Pop: "Heh, how could I even choose? Jumping out in front of Bessie and over turning the wagon, getting tarantula hair everywhere-"

Anne took this chance and snuck to the basement. While Hop Pop was pointing at a hole in the roof that really needs to be patched up later.
