It was a sunny Saturday, a day off from school with so much potential to be awesome. Mirio and Tamaki had been dating for around 3 months but still hadn't really done anything special like dates and Mirio figured it'd be the perfect day to change that.
Sitting up in bed, he sent a quick message to Tamaki:
Mirio - Hey, wanna meet up today? I have some stuff I'd like to do with you.
Tamaki - Sure? How many people will we be around?
Mirio - I was thinking it'd be just the two of us. Don't want to scare you away!
On the other end of the phone, Tamaki laughed quietly as he read the text, glad his boyfriend wasn't going to force him to be around too many people.
The two agreed to meet up that night around 6:30 outside the school but Mirio left hours before that in order to make sure everything was set up and perfect for their first date. When he was sure everything looked good, he glanced at his watch and made his way back to the front of the school where Tamaki waited, staring at his phone with a frown. He glanced up and relief spread over his face as he spotted Mirio.
"Sorry i'm late, I lost track of time," Togata said, smiling and taking his lovers hand, placing a kiss on his cheek.
"I-It's fine," Amajiki mumbled, allowing the blond to pull him down the street.
They walked through the town, chatting and laughing, holding hands.
Mirio led them down a gravel path that led to a forest on the outskirts of town. The trees opened up into a clearing where a lovely scene was set out.
A checkered red and white picnic blanket with a cute wood basket sitting neatly on top was spread out under a beautiful weeping willow. Lights were strung through the branches of the tree making the place glow faintly.
"Wow," was all the darker haired boy could manage as he took in everything.
The smell of the food wafted in the area and Tamaki inhaled deeply, closing his eyes. When he opened his eyes, Mirio was grinning, "I'm glad you like it! Now lets eat, i'm starving."
They ate in comfortable silence and when they were done, they laid on their backs watching the stars twinkle above them. The two took turns pointing out constellations, letting the cool night air drift around them.
Finally, Mirio glanced at his watch again and grinned. "Come with me," he said, dragging the other up off the comfortable ground, "I have something to show you, close your eyes."
The blond guided his lover further into the woods, not allowing the anxious one to open his eyes.
After a moment, Mirio stopped, "open your eyes," he instructed and Amajiki complied his breath catching for the second time that night as he surveyed the site in front of him. Unlike earlier, this area was dark except for the tiny little fireflies that flew around lighting wherever they went, a babbling brook off to the side added a magical affect as the tiny bugs moved.
"Do you like it?" The taller one asked, "I was nervous that the fireflies might not show up tonight."
The darker haired boy nodded, smiling, "I-it's beautiful."
Togata chuckled, pulling the other into a kiss.
