Leonor and Theresia sat on the park bench, holding hands and basking in the sunshine. "I love spending time with you like this," said Theresia, smiling at her girlfriend.
"I know, it's perfect," Leonor replied, looking into Theresia's deep brown eyes. "I just wish we could do it more often."
Theresia squeezed Leonor's hand. "I know, love. But we have to take what we can get."
Leonor nodded, and they both fell silent, enjoying the warmth of the sun on their faces. After a few moments, Theresia spoke up again. "I was thinking, maybe we should take a trip somewhere. Just the two of us."
Leonor's eyes lit up. "Really? Where do you want to go?"
Theresia shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe somewhere we've never been before. Somewhere we can explore and have fun."
Leonor laughed. "As long as we're together, I don't care where we go."
Theresia grinned. "That's what I like to hear."
As they walked through the park, they talked about all the different places they could visit. Theresia suggested a beach vacation, while Leonor thought a road trip across the country would be fun. They continued to weigh the pros and cons of each destination, their excitement growing with each passing moment.
Suddenly, Leonor's phone rang, interrupting their conversation. She checked the caller ID and frowned. "It's my boss," she said, answering the call. "Hello?"
Theresia frowned too, sensing that the call was not going to be good news. She listened as Leonor spoke to her boss, her face growing more and more distressed with each passing second.
Finally, Leonor hung up the phone and turned to Theresia. "I have to go in to work," she said, her voice shaking. "Something urgent has come up."
Theresia took a deep breath, trying to calm her own nerves. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
Leonor shook her head. "No, it's fine. I'll call you as soon as I'm done."
With one last lingering kiss, Leonor hurried off to work, leaving Theresia alone in the park. She sat down on the bench and sighed, feeling a sense of uncertainty wash over her. Why did life always seem to get in the way of their happiness?
Over the next few hours, Theresia anxiously waited for Leonor's call. She tried to distract herself by reading a book, but her mind kept wandering back to her girlfriend. Finally, the phone rang, and Theresia answered it eagerly.
"Hey," Leonor said, her voice full of excitement. "Guess what?"
Theresia could hear the smile in Leonor's voice, and it made her heart skip a beat. "What?" she asked, grinning.
"I got the day off work tomorrow!" Leonor exclaimed. "We can go on that trip we were talking about!"
Theresia's heart soared with happiness. "Really? That's amazing!"
Leonor laughed. "I know. I can't wait to spend the day with you."
They spent the rest of the evening planning their trip, deciding on a destination, and mapping out their route. Theresia couldn't believe her luck that they had gotten a whole day to themselves.
The next morning, they packed a picnic lunch and set off on their adventure, driving through winding roads and enjoying the scenic views along the way. At noon, they stopped at a beautiful lake and spread out a blanket, enjoying their lunch and each other's company.
As they ate, Theresia couldn't help but marvel at how perfect everything was. She had the woman she loved by her side, the sun was shining, and they had nowhere to be but together.
After they finished eating, they took a walk along the shore of the lake, holding hands and admiring the scenery. They saw a group of ducks swimming by and sat down on the rocks to watch them.
Suddenly, Leonor turned to Theresia, a glint in her eye. "You know what I've been thinking about?" she asked.
Theresia raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"This," Leonor said, leaning in to kiss Theresia. "Being here with you, enjoying the sunshine, feeling so happy. This is what life is all about, isn't it?"
Theresia felt her heart swell with emotion. "Yes, it is," she whispered.
They sat there for a few more minutes, watching the ducks and enjoying their peaceful surroundings. Eventually, they got up to leave, but before they started walking, Leonor turned to Theresia again.
"I just want you to know," she said softly, "that no matter what happens, I'll always love you. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me."
Tears stung Theresia's eyes as she heard those words. "I love you too," she whispered. "More than anything."
With those words, they continued their walk, feeling more in love than ever before. As the sun set in the sky, they headed back to their car, happy and content in each other's company.
As they drove back home, they talked about everything they had seen and done on their trip. They laughed, they joked, they made plans for their next daylight excursion.
And when they finally arrived back home, they cuddled up together on the couch, feeling the warmth of the day still lingering on their skin. As they watched a movie, they held hands, each feeling complete in the presence of the other.
This was their life, and it was perfect.
