Okay so I'm not subtle about my love for giant clams.
Giant clams are scientifically called "Tridacna" and are actually made up of multiple different species.
Just for fun I wanted to make a little... "guide".. on all of the different species (that I know of).

The first are a selection of the clams that I see the most often within the aquarium trade. These are the "popular" species of clam so to speak.

The hippopus clams belong to a seperate genus from the tridacna clams

The hippopus clams belong to a seperate genus from the tridacna clams. From what I understand about them, they're distinguished from the fact that they grow on sand, as oppose to rocks, and that their mantles (those sweet sweet clam lips) don't extend out of their shells like other giant clams do.

These are the ones that I found out about whilst on my quest to learn Every species of giant clam and honestly I found them very difficult to research. Let's just settle on the title: "miscellaneous"
