Tobias

(Tobias's P.O.V)

Billy kept going on and on about whatever until finally he grew bored and left. We started walking again and I heard Cody growl next to me and I asked him what's wrong.

"Why does he always insist on making fun of us?" He announced angrily. I thought that before and I came to the conclusion that he found it fun.

"Does it bother you when people mention that your blind?" He asked me when I didn't answer him.

I shook my head. "No," I answered, " if it did I'd probably be a very angry person."

I heard him laugh a little at that and I was relieved. For the rest of the walk there we mostly walked in silence except for his occasional descriptions to me about the area around me.

He always tells me what the world around me looks like. I let him too I love hearing about the clouds and how he always complains that buses should be a cooler colour than yellow it makes me happy.

"We're here," he said jerking me out of my thoughts. I already knew we were at school cause I could hear and smell the people around me. "Okay," I said anyway.

"Want me to lead you to your class?" He asked me.

I shook my head. " I've been walking on my own for a long time I can manage." I answered him.

"Okay," he said reluctantly than I heard his footsteps leave my side and head off in a different direction.

I then continued to head to my class moving out of the way of the people around me. It's weird how people think just because your blind you can't move around. I mean I may be blind but I can still take care of myself.

It's like when someone asks me what's it like to be blind? I don't know what's it like to be able to see? I get that question asked like every day.

I reached my classroom and opened the door to the room hoping that she wouldn't be there, She was.

"Tobias! How are you did you have a good day yesterday?" She asked me sweetly.

"Yeah, Ms. Frezzy," I answered. Ms. Frezzy is the teacher who looks after me and teaches me what I need to know in away I understand as she puts it. Don't get me wrong she is an amazing person and all but I don't think she really gets me. She doesn't think I can do anything on my own I mean I do need help with some stuff but not every little thing!

The bell rang singling for class to start and I took my seat next to Ms. Frezzy. Our seats are in rows of four and columns of two to fit all thirty-one kids in my class. I sit next to this kid named Jason Adams he's kind of a stupid kid and he acts like just because I'm blind I don't know how to talk.

The class all settled Into their seats and soon we got into attendance. I was the first to say my name cause I was the first in the alphabet. I sort of zoned out as she said the rest of the names until she called Cyrus's name.

"That's me!" He said excitedly getting a few giggles from the rest of the class. My teacher, Mr. Declin just ignored it. After attendance was done we stood up for our national anthem. It was soon over and we took our seats and the kids whispered excitedly to one another until Mr. Declin called there attention to the front of the class.

"Good morning class I'm sure your excited that its the last day of school but can I keep your attention on me for now." He asked politely. Slowly the class calmed down and he began to speak. "As you know you have me all afternoon then you end the day off with gym." He continued, "Well I decided that we'll have the party at the time you have me. Is that alright with you guys?" He asked, we agreed and then the bell rang for science class.

I went to walk out with the other kids but Ms. Frezzy stopped me. "What?" I asked her.

"Do you need my help to walk you to class?" She asked.

"No! I can walk on my own." I exclaimed angrily. I usually don't get upset about stuff like that but she asks me it everyday and I hate it when people ask me if they can guide me.

I felt her surprise but she quickly hid it and said, "Well okay then join the line then."

I didn't let her change her mind and I confidently joined the line. The line started moving and I followed it out the door.

The first part of the day went by fast and before I knew it it was lunchtime. I went to my homeroom class and opened my lunch, feeling for my sandwich.

I was just about to take my first bite when suddenly someone slammed their desk into mine shocking me and making me drop my sandwich.

"Sorry did I scare you" Asked a familiar voice I recognized it as Cyrus the kid from earlier.

"No you just surprised me."I answered grabbing my sandwich once again and wondering what he wanted. Cyrus was new to our school he just moved to our school a couple months ago. He moved from some small town in the states from what I heard. I never really talked to him before so I was surprised that he was talking to me. Most people just ignored me cause I'm blind unless of course they wanted to comment on how weird it is.

"What are you doing this summer?" He asked, jerking me out of my thoughts. "I don't know. We don't really have anything planned." I answered wondering what he was getting at.

"You live a couple blocks from here, right?" He asked after a moment of silence. I nodded allowing him to continue. "Me too, maybe I can come visit you over the summer." He said.

I was astounded. No one ever asked to come over to my house actually no one ever asked me anything like that at all. "You want to come visit me?" I asked doubt clear in my voice.

"Yeah," he answered. "I never really got to know you and you seem like a pretty cool guy so yeah."

He really does want to know me, I thought. "Yeah that would be awesome." I declared.

"Sweet!" He yelped, the bell going off at the exact same time. I felt him start to pack up then I heard him say, "I'll pop by your house tonight okay?" I was about to answer when I realized he already left. I shook my head and grabbed my lunch and headed out of class.

Ms. Frezzy followed me out and opened my locker for me. She then took my stuff and put it inside the locker. I'm not aloud to go outside with the rest of the kids so I headed towards my room that they made for my to study and learn.

I grabbed one of the audiobooks that I was listening to and put it into the disk player. Sitting down in my chair in the room listening to it as it started. It was a good book about action and monsters and within minutes I completely forgot about Cyrus.
