(Nico's P.O.V.)

Octavian cornered me. Again. He does this almost every day.

I was walking back to my house and I had heard him snarl. Then, he backed me into a corner.

Now, I know I'm going home with a bunch of bruises and a bloody nose. Like every day. My dad is never home, and my step mom doesn't care.

Octavian throws the first punch. I try to back up, but there is a wall behind me. His fist collides with my nose.

I put my hands up to try to protect myself, but it's no use. I get kicked in the stomach.

Octavian is saying some pretty bad things about me, but I didn't even try to focus on his words.

He punches me in the gut, causing me to fall down. He kicks my head, causing me to bleed out a lot. Everything is spinning, and I almost throw up.

Suddenly, I hear, "hey!" from behind me.

I look up to see a the most beautiful face in history. The guy had blond shaggy hair and sky blue eyes. To put it simply, he was hot.

He threw a punch at Octavian, which everyone knows not to do. Octavian steps back in surprise.

"Why are you protecting this fag?" Octavian asked.

The guy throws another punch. "Step. Away. From. Him," he says softly but deadly serious.

"Fine," Octavian snarls. He walks past me and kicks me in the stomach again.

The guy leans down. "Where does it hurt the most?" He asks.

I point to my head, and the guy looks for damage. "I'm going to take you to the school's nurse, okay? Can I pick you up?"

I nod. The guy picks me up bridal style and rushes me to the infirmary. He quickly explains what happened to the nurse and the nurse looks at me. She puts a little pressure on my stomach, causing me to wince.

"He has a broken rib," she tells the guy.

"Do you want me to take him to the hospital?"

I shake my head frantically. My dad will get so upset if he has to pay for the bill.

"I guess not," the nurse says. "Do you know his name? I need to tell his teachers that he will not be in school for the rest of the day."

"No," the guy says.

I try to speak, but nothing comes out. The nurse gets a pen and paper for me. I write my name on the paper.

"Okay Nico. I'll get you fixed up," the nurse tells me. "You should get back to class," she tells the guy.

"No, I want to make sure he's okay," the guy says stubbornly.

"Can I call your parents?" The nurse asks me.

I shake my head.

"Why not?"

I look away. I can't call my parents. My dad won't care, and my mother is dead.

"Please Neeks?" The guy pleaded. When did he start calling me Neeks? I shook my head again.

The nurse groaned in frustration. "Fine, we won't call them. But I need to bandage up those wounds."

She bandaged them up. I tried to get off of the table, but it was to painful. "Ow!" I yelled, then looked away embarrassed.

"Good, you can speak now," the nurse smiled. "Why can't I call your parents?" She asked to get straight to the point.
