With Ember soundly unconscious, the boys had gathered in her room and stared at her with uneasiness. Aerith knelt by her bedside, casting spell after spell to ensure her survival. Normally a potion would do the trick to rid of her wound, but Xigbar planned more meticulously than they thought. Axel and Roxas were on the other side of the bed from Aerith, while Sora and Riku stood at the foot of the bed, Sora's knuckles turning white from his grip being so hard. Ventus stood only a few feet from Aerith, his arms crossed as he watched with concern. Vanitas was leaning against the wall closest to the door, his hands in his pockets as he ensured to stay out of the way.
Aerith casted one last spell before she sighed with worriment. "I'll come back in a bit and see what else I can do. Whatever he used is strong, and I need to find the antidote."
Ventus bowed his head ever so slightly. "Thank you for trying."
Aerith gave the boys a polite nod before exiting the room, leaving the boys to stare at Ember in silence. Only a few moment passed before their attention turned to Vanitas, who had suddenly punched the wall behind him with anger.
"Fucking bastard." He spat, his eyes filled with rage.
Axel frowned and shook his head. "I'm so sorry guys. We should have done more..."
Sora crossed his arms and swayed side to side as he was thinking out loud. "You thought quickly, catching her into a portal before she hit the ground. I just didn't know Xigbar could poison his bullets."
"Neither did we." Roxas admitted quietly. "And we have no idea what the antidote is, or if there even is one. He went out of his way to make sure that if he missed that he wouldn't fail completely."
Ember's breathing was rapid as sweat dripped from her forehead. Ventus was quick to reach into the bowl of water on the nightstand left by Aerith and dabbed her forehead gently, concern showing on his face.
"This poor girl was dragged from her own world and into this mess. Why is she paying the price for something that's our problem?" Ventus brushed her bangs from her face as the sweat made them stick to her forehead. "I don't even understand why the Organization wants her dead to begin with."
"Xigbar said whether intentional or not she was getting in the way of their plans." Riku chimed in with remorse in his tone. "I don't understand why they would kidnap her to begin with if they were just going to kill her in the end."
Axel glared at his feet. "Xemnas only selects those with strong hearts. As far as I'm aware she was locked up because she refused to be part of it. He was going to force her sooner or later."
Sora gasped and covered his mouth with his hand. "Force her...? Like rip her heart out or something?"
"Yeah something like that."
"I've heard enough." Vanitas pounded his fist into the palm of his hand. "I'm going to go do something rather than stand around and chit chat."
Sora frantically waved his hands to stop Vanitas from going. "Hold on! We can just visit Master Yen Sid! I'm sure he can do something! After all we haven't told him Ven is awake yet!"
"We can't teleport to somewhere we haven't seen." Roxas pointed out.
"Then I'll fly with the ship and venture to the Master." Sora placed his hand on his chest as a confident smile formed on his lips. "We'll save her."
"I'll go with you." Ventus offered. "I'll talk to him on the way back."
"Me too." Axel stepped in. "So when we arrive I can at least teleport there if we need to again in the future."
Sora turned to the others as the look on his face darkened. "The rest of you, please stay here and take care of her. We'll be back shortly."
Vanitas scoffed, waving a hand to dismiss Sora's orders as he plopped himself onto a chair in the room. Roxas found himself sitting on the edge of the bed while Riku posted himself against a wall. The boys all exchanged nods before those who volunteered ventured out to the ship to meet up with Yen Sid.
