"Sora?!"
Sora clenched her in his arms, landing gracefully on his feet. Ember shot him a glare, angry that him and the others arrived so soon. Even after he landed Sora refused to release her. She felt his hold tighten as he looked her in the eyes; hers filled with rage and his filled with concern. Ember wanted to forgive him and release her anger, but she continued the facade of resentment as they continued eye contact.
"I'm just glad you're okay." Sora almost whispered. "We were all so worried when Namine said you didn't follow her. We thought Xehanort got you."
"I mean he kinda did." Ember winced as the conversation reminded her of the soreness that erupted from her back.
"Yeah, he kinda did. But don't worry, we're here to help now!" Sora winked confidently and a dashing smile curled on his lips.
Finally he set her down on her feet, and Ember brushed the dirt from her clothes in a pout. Her plan failed. Everything she was getting ready for had failed. She knew that the group had their own plan for success, but Ember desperately wanted to prevent them from risking their lives. She wanted to keep them safe by doing everything on her own. But a stab of guilt grabbed her consciousness as she realized they weren't aware that Ember planned this on her own accord; they thought Xehanort provoked her. They thought he took her. How was she going to explain that everything happening was her own fault?
There was a huge explosive noise that gathered their attention and the two were compelled to look towards it. Xehanort seemingly had smashed a large boulder to the ground and caused a crater right where Ventus once stood; as evidenced by his reaction and pose. He had fallen fearfully in a sitting position and leaned his body weight against his hands, and even from the distance between them Ember noticed him trembling. She felt a bit relieved as she noticed Vanitas swooping in and grabbing his counter part before dragging him away from the cracked boulder mere inches away.
Ember took that moment to see just exactly what was happening. As planned Aqua, Terra, and Yen Sid were occupying the hoard of Unversed towards the outskirts of the circle, with Axel, Roxas, and Riku closer to the inner circle. Axel manifested a wall of fire between the Unversed and those in the center circle as even with the six individuals couldn't maintain the large army alone. As Vanitas was tossing Ventus away from the near death experience, Eraqus faced Xehanort independently. Ember bit her bottom lip and focused on the task at hand as she sought her weapon, noticing it laying on the ground nearby.
Ember darted for it and avoided a bolt of lightning zapping the spot she just ran past. Even while fighting Eraqus, Xehanort was still skillfully watching. She snatched her sword and immediately began to store power in the blades as Sora turned to glare at Xehanort for his attempted attack.
"Was there more to your plan than this?" Ember called out to Sora.
"Yeah, attacking him all at once under the Masters orders!" Sora shouted and finally summoned his Keyblade. "We need to advance towards them!"
Ember nodded and made a run for it with Sora following closely behind. Eraqus and Xehanort clashed with great effort, their Keyblades causing sparks to fly in the air and lighting up the night sky. Ember and Sora attempted to close the gap, but once again Xehanort had the foresight to prevent them from advancing further. Wickedly he smirked, shoving Eraqus away with a wave of darkness before lifting a hand and creating yet another barrier to separate the elders from the rest using stone from the ground.
Ember and Sora halted immediately, looking to the stone with dismay.
"Dammit." Vanitas panted as him and Ventus joined the other two in staring at the newly created wall.
