As the darkness slowly receded, a ray of sunshine fell into the room, filling it with soft, warm hues. The clock on the nightstand showed 6:30 a.m. Suddenly, the alarm rang, prompting the two people in the bed to stir. James awoke from his deep sleep and glanced to his side.

There lay a beautiful, petite woman, sleeping soundly. A smile crept onto his face. He felt blessed to see her every morning. Gently, he caressed her cheek. Even in sleep, she wore a smile.

After spending some time in the bathroom, James returned to find his queen still peacefully asleep in bed.

He leaned close to her ear and murmured, "Wake up, sleeping princess."

Catherine, not a morning person, pushed him aside and tried to go back to sleep. This was their morning routine. It was James's duty to wake his wife. His morning task. Yet James never grew tired of it and never complained.

Moving to her other side, James asked, "Don't you remember today's special occasion?"

"What occasion?" Catherine mumbled, still half-asleep. James's face showed a hint of sadness when she didn’t respond right away.

Moments later, Catherine opened her eyes and sat up in bed.

"You don't remember?" James asked again, his tone tinged with disappointment. Anyone could easily read his emotions, but he avoided making eye contact with Catherine.

To the outside world, James was a strict businessman, but only Catherine knew how soft he truly was. She reached for his hand, but he pulled away.

"Look at me," she pleaded, but he refused.

"I'm sorry, James. I was just teasing. I know it's our second wedding anniversary," Catherine laughed, reassuring him. James's face brightened at her words.

"You remember, baby?" he asked, relief washing over him.

"Of course, it's our wedding anniversary. How could I forget?" Catherine replied, her smile putting James at ease.

He had a tough exterior, but anything concerning Catherine made him vulnerable. Every moment with her was a source of happiness.

For him, wedding anniversaries and cat's birthdays were celebrated like festivals.

"Enough. Now get ready. we have to go to the office," James said, taking charge of the morning routine.

He gently nudged Catherine out of bed. After her shower, Catherine found James missing from the room.

She headed downstairs, greeted by the aroma of sausage, fried eggs, and bacon.

"Why didn't you wait for me? I could have helped," she asked James as he arranged plates filled with food.

"You can help by finishing the food," he replied, placing the dishes on the table.

"Honey, I'm on a diet," Catherine protested, gesturing to her hourglass figure.

"There's no need for a diet. I want my wife to be healthy," James insisted, patting her head affectionately. To him, Catherine was like a child. He watched as she ate, ensuring she finished everything he had prepared.

Afterward, he cleared the plates, gently pushing Catherine upstairs when she offered to wash them.

"We need to be at the office before 9:00, so please get ready. Your husband can handle the rest," James reminded Catherine, aware of her tendency to take her time getting ready.

Catherine chose a red one-piece dress from her wardrobe, admiring herself in the mirror. James was stunned by her beauty. He kissed her neck from behind.

"James, you scared me," she exclaimed, placing a hand over her heart.

"Mrs. Hills has no reason to be scared. Your husband is strong," James teased, flexing his muscles. After a playful exchange, Catherine helped James into his shirt and coat before they headed to the office, each to their respective roles. At the end of the workday, James waited for Catherine at the entrance.

"You're busier than the CEO," he remarked as they left together. During the drive to James's parents' house, they shared playful banter and affectionate moments.

At the parents house, they were warmly welcomed, with James's father and mother showing affection toward Catherine.

After dinner, James and his father discussed business matters, with James reassuring his father of his commitment to the company.

In the hall, James's mother inquired about their plans for children, to which Catherine responded with uncertainty, knowing James desired to provide a comfortable life for their future family.

With James's insistence, they left for home, despite concerns about the darkness outside. During the drive, Catherine urged James to slow down, but he was eager to show her a surprise gift he had arranged. Suddenly, a loud bang interrupted their journey, and everything went black.
