**James’s POV**

It's been two days since I separated from Elena. Now, I'm staying in the cheapest hotel I could find. I don’t have the courage to face Catherine. Only now do I realize how pure her love was. How foolish I was to lose her. I had her, but I let her slip away.

Elena was a mistake. I’ve thought about ending it all many times, but there’s still a strange satisfaction, the pleasure of the forbidden fruit. I enjoyed the thrill of sneaking around, but I was too blind to see Catherine’s pain. I never considered her feelings—my pleasure was all that mattered.

I saw Elena as more beautiful and more understanding than Catherine, but it was all a lie. I hit myself out of frustration. I shouldn’t have signed those papers. I shouldn’t have broken Catherine’s heart. But what’s done is done.

I need to make things right. I’m willing to lay at Catherine’s feet for the rest of my life if that’s what it takes. I can make everything right from now on. But I need Catherine in my life. I miss her so much. I’ll be the loving husband she deserves.

I went to my parents’ house. Mom was sipping tea, and Dad was reading the newspaper.

“Dad, Mom,” I called out. Dad didn’t look up, but Mom did.

I fell to my knees. “Mom, Dad, forgive me. I was a fool. I fell into Elena’s trap,” I cried, feeling utterly hopeless.
Mom pulled me close.

“What happened, James?” she asked gently.

“Elena—she wasn’t pregnant. She was just fooling me,” I sobbed.

“How dare she?” Mom’s voice was filled with anger.

“Mom, I want my old life back. I want Catherine back,” I said, desperate for their support.

Mom comforted me. I can endure any hardship, but only if Catherine is with me. She loves my parents; she can’t reject them.

“It’s okay, son. She’ll give you a chance,” Mom said, giving me hope.

Dad remained silent, absorbing everything we said.

“Dad, please,” I begged, hoping he would intervene. If he asked Catherine, I was sure she would take me back.

He hummed in acknowledgment and went upstairs.

**Third POV**

“Hi, I’m Jordan Johnson,” he introduced himself to Dominic.

Jordan had heard about Dominic and Catherine from Susan, and now his son had come back to the picture.

“Dominic,” he said, shaking Jordan’s hand before sitting down across from him.

“It would be more fitting to introduce myself as James’s father. I’m not here on business.” The reason for this introduction was clear. Dominic now understood why Jordan was there.

“Okay,” Dominic nodded.

“I consider Cat to be like my daughter. So, it’s my right to know what your relationship with her is,” Jordan said.

Dominic loved Catherine, but what about her? What kind of relationship did they truly have?

“I know it’s not just a boss-staff relationship between you two. Do you like her?” he asked.

“Not just like. I love her,” Dominic’s voice was steady and determined. Even Jordan didn’t expect such an open admission.

“My son broke her heart. How can she trust you?” Jordan asked, assessing Dominic’s sincerity like a seasoned businessman.

“I’m not James. He fell in love with Catherine after falling for many other girls, but I’m not like that. She’s my first and last love,” Dominic said confidently.

“So, you’ve loved her since school. Then why didn’t you confess?” Jordan inquired.

“Love is about letting go, so I let her go. But she fell into his trap. This time, I won’t let her slip away,” Dominic paused, then continued. “I’m not making promises now, but my actions will speak for themselves.”

“Okay, then,” Jordan was impressed with Dominic’s conviction.

“Catherine’s birthday is coming up. I’m hosting a party at my house. You should be there,” he said.

Dominic accepted the invitation with a smile.

**Dominic’s POV**

I first met Catherine in school. She was a beautiful girl, but more than that, she had a wonderful personality.

She was always an interesting chapter in my life, and with each passing day, I fell more in love with her.

Catherine was the head girl, always active in school activities. She was the only girl who talked to me like a friend, not just wanting to be my girlfriend. Her smiles were bright, making my days better.

Her words were like music to me. I wasn’t one for parties, but I went to hers when she invited me. I spent hours searching for the perfect gift because I had never bought a gift for a girl before. The reason? I could never say no to her. But I thought I had lost her. I searched for someone like her, but Catherine is Catherine—no one can replace her. No one can take her place in my heart.

**Third POV**

James, Daniel, Victor, and Selin sat around a table.

“So, you’re telling me she wasn’t pregnant?” Daniel asked.
“Yes,” James replied.
“What are you going to do now?” Selin asked.

“I’m going back to Catherine,” he answered simply.
“Will she accept you?” Victor asked.

“Of course. You all know how much she loves me,” James said confidently.

“But now? She even blocked my number. I really miss my old friend,” Victor said, reminiscing about moments with Catherine.

“She’s just mad. We’re her friends; she’ll have to accept us,” Daniel muttered. He didn't want to admit the loss.

“Yeah, I want her in my wedding,” Selin said. They all tried reaching out to Catherine, but it was in vain.

“Her birthday is coming up. Dad has arranged a party at home,” James said. His mother had told him the news. This was his chance.

“She’ll be happy to see me. I even bought a gift for her,” James said.

He still believed in her love.

“Yes, we’ll make this party unforgettable. After all, we’re her only friends,” Selin said, confident they still had a chance.
