### James POV

I came home from a hectic day at work. This low-level job is so hard. When I was a CEO, all I had to do was sign papers and attend meetings. But now, I have to handle everything myself.

"Honey, you're home," Elena said when I walked in. I don't have time for sweet words.

"Move, Elena," I said, sweating like a pig.

"Where is it?" she asked.

"What?" I didn't know what she wanted.

"The gift," she said.

"Gift? ", I don't even have money to pay the bills.

"Yeah. Today is Valentine's Day," she reminded me, her attitude drastically different from before. She used to be more understanding.

"I didn't buy anything," I admitted.

"Why? Did you forget?" she yelled. Of course, I forgot. A man trying his best to make everything right can forget these things.

"Yes," I said, trying to get past her.

"You never used to forget these days. Don't you remember what you bought me last time? We tricked Catherine and spent Valentine's Day in the Maldives."

"Elena, I just got back from work. Can't you make me a coffee?" I asked. If it were Catherine, she would have already handed me a cup.

"You're working like everyone. What is so special about it," she snapped.

I had no energy left to argue, so I walked away from her. But she grabbed my hand. I pulled away and went to the bathroom, but she followed me, arguing with every step.

As I unbuttoned my shirt, she grabbed me again. Finally, I shoved her aside. But it was harder than I intended, and she hit her head on the wall and fainted. I didn't mean for that to happen.

I called her name, but she didn’t respond.

I took her to the hospital. What came over me? Why did I push her? Is my baby safe? Questions swirled in my mind.

I waited for doctor.

"Doctor, how is Elena?" I asked.

"She's okay. She lost consciousness from the impact," he said.

"What about my baby?" I asked.

"Baby?" he replied, looking at me with confusion.

"Yes, my baby," I repeated, my voice rising.

"There is no baby," he said.

"No, Elena is pregnant," I insisted. Did he do something to my child? I grabbed him by his shirt.

"I'm a doctor, and I assure you, she's not pregnant," he said, freeing himself from my grip. No, that can't be true. She *has* to be pregnant.

The last bit of hope inside me vanished, leaving only darkness.

I brought her home. She continued pretending she was pregnant. I didn’t know what to think. She was the reason for my divorce. My entire body trembled with anger.

She sat on the bed, and I watched her carefully.

"Elena, how long are you going to keep up this act?" I asked. She looked at me, her emotions swirling.

"James," she said. Once, I waited eagerly to hear her voice. But now, that same voice was tormenting me.

"You're not pregnant," I stated. The truth shattered me; I had dreamed of starting a family.
