**Catherine's POV**

It was my first day at the new job.

As I walked toward my car, Serena called out from the gate.

"Cat, is today your first day at the office?" she asked.

"Yeah, Rena," I replied.

"Are you stressed?" she inquired, studying my face.

"Am I?" I paused to think. "Well, it's normal to be nervous on your first day."

"You look like you're heading into a wrestling match," she joked.

"Are you making fun of me?" I asked, slightly annoyed.

"No, of course not," she said, quickly closing her mouth.

"Yes, I am stressed," I admitted.

"Don't be. It's not like it's your first job," she pointed out.

"Yeah, but my last job was over a year ago," I reminded her.

"Whatever, my dear friend. All the best for your first day. You're going to be the star of this company," she encouraged.

As I drove to the company, I thought,

*This is the place that’s going to change my life.*

When I arrived, the woman I met during the interview, Sara, introduced herself as my mentor. She was an easy-going woman and quickly handed me my ID card, showing me to my desk. The name tag had my name and photo on it. There were many other staff members in the hall. Sara introduced me to them, and they greeted me warmly, coming over to introduce themselves. The staff seemed nice, and the environment was quite comfortable.

I sat down at my desk, and a guy sat in the chair next to mine. He glanced at me briefly.

To break the awkwardness, I said, "Hi."

"Hi. So, you're Catherine," he replied. There was something odd about the way he said it.

"Do you know me?" I asked, confused.

"No, I just heard about the new hire. So, you're the one," he clarified.

"Oh, yeah," I said, understanding now.

"By the way, I'm Henry," he introduced himself, shaking my hand. "You can call me whenever you need anything."

I smiled and looked at my monitor.

"Where do you live?" he asked. Henry seemed like a talkative person.

"Not far from here," I replied, keeping my answer short.

"What's your favorite color?" he asked next.

"Red," I answered, not thinking much of it.

"Why red?" he asked, sounding surprised.

"What?" I asked, a bit taken aback by the question.

"Well, most girls like pink, but you like red. That just blew up my observation," he explained.

"Observation about what?" I asked, turning to face him.

"Observations about you," he said. This guy could go on and on.

Just then, a woman passed by and gave Henry a special smile. He returned it with the same enthusiasm.

*So, he’s a flirt in the office,* I thought.

A different guy approached me and introduced himself.

"Hi, I’m Jerry. Are you the new hire?" he asked.
