**One Year Later**

**At the Hospital**

Dr. Samuel took his seat and picked up the medical report in front of him, beginning to read.

"How are you feeling now, Catherine?" Dr. Samuel asked, his eyes still fixed on the report.

"I'm fine, doctor. I'm feeling better," Catherine replied, feeling suffocated in the hospital room.

She had been connected to this hospital for a year now.

"There’s no need to worry. Your results are good," Dr. Samuel said, finally looking up from the report to meet her gaze. "You should continue taking care of your health," he added with a smile.

Catherine nodded in response.

"James isn’t with you today?" Dr. Samuel asked, noticing his absence.

"No, he had an important meeting," she answered, using an excuse she had often relied on.

Dr. Samuel looked at her sympathetically.

"Can I stop my medication now, doctor?" she asked, breaking the silence.

"Yes, of course. You're fully recovered," he assured her with an encouraging smile.

Catherine took her bag and left his office, heading to retrieve her car.

**The Past**

It had been one year since that fateful night—the night that changed their lives forever. A truck had crashed into their car. In mere seconds, the happiness James and Catherine once knew was shattered.

People gathered around the wrecked car and called 911. The ambulance arrived quickly, and the paramedics placed James and Catherine on stretchers.

James was conscious, aware of the chaos around him, but Catherine wasn't responding. He wanted to cry, but no sound came out. He looked at his wife, covered in blood. The ambulance rushed them to the hospital.

Doctors quickly attended to them. They took Catherine to the emergency room while James, suffering from a fractured leg, was treated and sedated. Despite the pain, he murmured Catherine’s name in his sleep.

Catherine remained in a coma for over two months. Physically, she was fine, but her mental state was fragile. The doctor told James she could wake up at any time. Initially, James didn’t leave her bedside. But his parents and Candy encouraged him to start working again and try to move on.

One morning, during those hospital days, James's mother said, "James, look at yourself, and then look at the company’s status. You need to focus on your work too."

"Mom, Catherine is lying in this bed because of me," he cried, tears rolling down his face as he hugged his mother.

"No, son, it was God’s decision. It was her fate," she said, comforting him.

Jordan and Candy came to James's side. "James, I think you should focus on work. It will be less painful," Jordan encouraged him.

James sobbed. "No, Dad, I need to be here. I want to be the first person she sees when she wakes up," he said.

"James, she can wake up at any time. What would she think if she saw you like this? The company she worked hard for is struggling," Candy said, addressing her son-in-law.

James looked at her, then at Catherine. "I'm a doctor; I can stay with my daughter the whole time," Candy assured him.

After much discussion and encouragement, James began working again. He visited Catherine in the morning before heading to the office and went straight to the hospital after work.
