**Catherine's POV**
I was sitting in a restaurant with Serena. The place was quieter than usual. We were waiting for Wad. I felt anxious, while Rena seemed excited to meet him.
"Miss, may I take your order?" A waiter approached our table.
"Two cappuccinos, please," she replied for both of us.
I kept glancing at the time while she touched up her makeup. Finally, after 45 minutes, he arrived.
"Sorry, guys. I’m really sorry for being late," he said, raising his hands in apology as he sat down across from us.
"You’re 45 minutes late. Is this how you treat your clients?" I was irritated.
"I’m sorry. I had another appointment today, and you called suddenly, so I had to rearrange my plans," he explained.
"Whatever," I muttered, still upset, but Serena intervened.
"It's okay. Now that we’re all here, we can discuss our matter."
"Yep." He folded his hands and looked directly at me.
"So, you want a divorce?" he asked, his tone shifting to something more professional. The playful smile was gone, replaced by a serious expression.
"Yes," I answered. I wasn’t sure what others would say about my decision. They saw me as the wife of a handsome and powerful business tycoon, someone girls envied. But they didn’t know what I was going through. I couldn’t continue living this way.
"Catherine, getting a divorce isn’t easy," he said, his tone serious. I knew he would make this difficult.
"If you can’t do this, I’ll find another lawyer," I said, starting to stand up.
"Catherine, sit down and hear me out first," he urged. He glanced at Serena, who also nodded, urging me to sit back down. Reluctantly, I did.
"Catherine, a divorce only requires two signatures: one from you and one from James," he said gently.
"Yeah, I know."
"But are you sure he’s going to sign the papers?" he asked.
"He’s in another relationship. If he divorces me, he can be with her without any barriers," I replied. There would be no need for him to hide anymore. He could finally be with the woman he truly wanted.
"Catherine, if he wanted to be free, he would’ve asked for a divorce by now. He hasn’t exactly kept this relationship a secret," Wad pointed out, giving me a moment to think.
"So?" I asked, not sure where he was going with this.
"If we file for divorce and James refuses, the court will drag out the process," he explained. I needed a quick divorce; I wanted to be free.
"Then what do we do?" I asked, worried. Why couldn’t anything in my life go as I planned?
He didn’t respond right away.
"So, should I live with a man I no longer love?" I pressed.
"No, Catherine, it’s not like that," he continued.
"Then what? Tell me," I demanded, growing impatient.
"You should file a divorce petition against James," he advised.
"Okay, but you said it would take time," I reminded him.
"It will take time if he says no. But a divorce can be expedited if there’s proof of bad behavior, like abuse or adultery," he clarified.
