Chapter 29

"So he told you?"

"No. His friends did."

"I guess I'm still fresh in his mind."

"Why did you do it?"

"Do what?"

"Cheat on Kenny. He loved you, from what I've heard he's treated you well."

"He did. I was a queen for him. He did anything I asked. We were the perfect couple."

"So why?"

"Sometimes people make mistakes. We all have our moments. My moment of weakness cost me the relationship I had with the best guy ever. I'm sure you know a little something about slipping up, right?"

"..."

Tammy smiles. "I'm in an industry that gossips a lot. I hear things. Your last boyfriend, you ki-"

"Stop taking."

"So it is true..."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Buttercup, I'm not trying to hurt you right now."

Leo's eyes widen. "Where did you hear that name?"

"Your dead ex boyfriend."

"Stop. Stop. Stop talking."

Tammy smirks. "I think I've said enough. I need you to keep in mind how much I know, Buttercup. I'll be seeing you around."

Tammy goes back inside.

Leo throws his sandwich on the grass and puts a hand to his forehead. "How did she know? The only people who know about that are his family..."  he looks up at the sky, trying to stop tears from rolling down his face.

"Damn... haven't had these bad memories in a long time."

Leo is on autopilot for the rest of the school day. He goes to each of his classes without saying anything. Once school is over he begins to walk home.

"Hey! Leo! You want a ride?"

Leo keeps walking.

Kenny runs up to catch him. "Leo?"

Leo still doesn't stop so Kenny grabs his arm. "Dude?"

Leo blinks a few times. "Oh. Sorry I was zoned out. Did you need something?"

"I was offering a ride.... Hey, are you okay? You don't look so good."

Leo shakes Kenny's hand off his shoulder. "I'm fine. And thanks for the offer but I want to walk."

"Okay. Text me if you need to talk."

Leo nods and walks away.

Leo goes home and lies down on his back, he stares at the ceiling without moving.

His body was still, but his mind was moving 100 mph. "I can't stop thinking about it... I thought that era of my life was over... but if Tammy tells Kenny what happened... will he still have the kindness he has towards me?"

He groans and closes his eyes, "just sleep... just sleep..."
