Bunny - Battle of the bands

Chapter 10

Butters looks up at Kenny who is a foot away from him. He was trapped. "What are you doing?"

"Your reactions amuse me. I've never seen someone with an expression like that." He grabs Butters chin and tilts his head to get a better view.

"Kenny..?"

"You're an interesting guy." He finally backs off.

Butters takes a deep breath, that was scary for him.

Butters lies awake at night. He lied when he said he couldn't make it to the next practice. He was just worried he would get flustered again.

"Why do I keep feeling all fuzzy and awkward around him? Maybe his jacket is too bright..."

Butters shoves his face into the pillow. "What am I even saying? It's obvious I'm developing feelings for him..."

He rolls onto his back and stares at the ceiling. He knew he was bi. He has liked both boys and girls in the past, but this was the strongest crush he ever had on a boy.

"He's so different from the people I usually like... he's a free spirit and just does what he wants, total opposite of me..."

Butters turns on his side and hugs his blanket. "I really like him..."

Kenny and his friends practice after school for a few hours before deciding to take a break.

Kyle holds up a pack of sodas. "Hey, we never celebrated our first victory, let's chill and drink some sodas."

The boys all go up to Stans room. Stan and Kyle sit on his bed, Eric sits on the computer chair, and Kenny sits with his legs crossed on the floor.

"Dude, the fucking stage lights are so hot." Kyle complains.

"And blinding. I could only see the very front row." Kenny adds.

"At least we can see our instruments really well, and the audience could see your facial expressions, Kenny."

"My expressions? Why does that matter."

"Have you not been hearing what everyone's been gossiping about? You're popular with half the school, and Tolkien is popular with the other half. The reason you have a shot against him is because you were making those seductive faces while you were singing."

"Oh. I couldn't tell. I was just focusing on sounding good."

"Well, keep it up. It's working."

"Noted."

"I think we need to talk about Butters." Cartman interjects.

"What about?" Kenny turns his body slightly to face Cartman.

"I think he's got a thing for you, Kenny."

"You think he likes me? Like, he wants to go out with me?"

"Yeah dude. He focuses on you way more than the rest of us and his eyes are always on you."

Kyle cuts in. "The entire schools eyes are on Kenny, dude. He's the hot new thing."

"I'm not a thing." Kenny smiles.

"I'm telling you. If this gets out of hand we need to consider kicking him out of the band."

Kenny tilts his head. "Why? It doesn't bother me. And it definitely shouldn't bother you. Just mind your own business. We have a competition to win."

"Don't say I didn't warn you when this gets out of hand. You don't want those kind of rumors going around. It could hurt the band."
