Eli and Arlo sat across from each other at his kitchen table after they both got dressed for the day. Mrs. Moskowitz plated their food and walked towards the table smiling. Arlo looked down at her plate, one waffle and two pieces of bacon. Eli's plate had a waffle, bacon, and eggs. Arlo smiled, realizing his mom hadn't put any eggs on her plate.
Mrs. Moskowitz noticed the girl smiling while looking between the two plates. "I remembered you telling me about how much you hated eggs."
"Thank you." Arlo smiled and took a sip of orange juice.
"Hurry up you two." Mrs. Moskowitz pointed at the two while walking towards the kitchen. "I need to get you to school soon."
The two nodded and began eating their breakfast slightly quicker. They talked about joining Miguel's dojo in between bites. Eli kept telling her he didn't want to do it unless her and Demetri both went with him. Arlo was frustrated inside because she knew how Demetri felt about karate, he had voiced his opinion several times. Arlo quietly groaned under her breath as she recalled Demetri's objection on karate.
"It's unnecessarily violent."
"I would rather spend my afternoons doing, anything else."
"We have Miguel, why do we need to learn?"
Eli and Arlo walked towards the kitchen and set their plates in the sink. The two continued strategizing how to get Demetri on board with their plan of joining the dojo. After they both put their shoes on, they grabbed their backpacks, and headed towards the black SUV his mom drove. They both continued talking about karate as Mrs. Moskowitz drove them to school. She occasionally glanced in the rearview mirror smiling at Arlo and Eli, she was happy they were both so passionate about something.

It was the end of seventh period, gym class. Arlo and the other girls walked back towards the locker rooms to change out of their gym clothes. When she got to her locker, she unlocked it and pulled out her clothes. She pulled her blue shorts off, quickly putting her baggy cargo pants back on. As she pulled her gym shirt on, she went to reach for her normal shirt that she had set on a bench beside her. Panic filled her body when she turned around to see it gone.
