I'd still stare at you."

SMIRA's POV

I jogged down the stairs and saw Dii in the kitchen. She was in her black pants and white shirt, her hair in a loose pony. She's glowing.

I decided to tease her before going, the day won't go nicely if I don't tease her.

"You are glowing Dii," I said in a mocking voice.

She looks up and rolls her eyes. "Do you wanna hear me curse at you early in the morning my sweet cheery?" she says, taunting me back. Her voice holds a challenge that says dare you fucking try

I laugh at her. "I just complimented you. The 6'2 has done his job perfectly." I winked.

"You better go or I'll smack your skull on the kitchen platform," Di warns, but there's a small smile still playing on her lips. I grin at her, pleased with her vexed face.

Till then Dad made his way in the hallway. Immediately my smile dropped.
It's strange, I never saw him at this time at home, he's always gone before I woke up.

We met our eyes for brief secs and he's the one who broke it.

He's avoiding eye contact, let alone being in the same presence as mine.

"Good morning " he wishes, his voice equine. Clearing his throat he skims anywhere but us.

"Sweet morning Dad" I wished him back. I try to sound polite and familiar but the thing is there's no familiarness left between us. And I hate that but got used to it at the same time.

He looked up at me and nodded his head. It was awkward. His nod was uneasy. He's uneasy. His talking with us and we replying to him back- it's bizarre. Everything is just weird.

"Good morning Sahara." He wished Dii. She nodded at him and looked down, packing sandwiches.

"Morning."

The air is thick, it's filled with awkward silence and it's making me suffocate. It's one of the rare moments when we spoke with Dad, well to be precise; wished morning and all. I wonder when was the last time we ever talked.

Umm.......ages ago

"I'll go, have a good day," he says, breathing hard. Clearing his throat once again he glances at me and walks past me.
