That emotion, where you feel. The upthrust of the ocean pulling you back to the surface and the light in sight. The hope of being able to breathe again and clear your lungs of polluted molecules. You reach your hand above, it pushes through the top and you can feel it. The warmth hitting your bruised hand. Hands grab your ankles, hope is shaken as you kick and scream. All the might left inside you, fighting for your freedom... to only be sinking once again, the place you know well. The ocean grows in darkness as the light of hope fades.

Maybe it was better to be contempt than have the false hope of warmth.

Bakugo Katsuki woke up next to his childhood friend, Izuku Midoriya. It was assumed by others that their friendship dried out, even he believed it. But Midoriya was as stubborn as a pufferfish, refusing to leave his side. He fought for himself and in exchange, their friendship continued. One day, Bakugo thought. One day, he would tell him about the fondness kept inside.

Bubbles floated out of his mouth. "Deku...? Deku, wake up."

Bubbles floated back. "Mmm."

"Wake up you little shit."

"Oh! Morning Kacchan, how did you sleep?"

The deeper in the ocean, the colder it becomes. It's common sense for it to be cold as the source of light is stripped away. He slept cold, sinking deeper.

But a green pufferfish stayed close.

"Fine, I guess."

"Well! We have school so I'll meet you in class!"

He swam away, leaving the blonde to his own thoughts. He shook the hair out of his face and stood up, groaning at his shit neck posture. He does his bathroom business and then throws uniform on, including the tie... thanks to his teacher. He sat down in his seat and saw a red shark swim across the classroom.

Sharks always seen as deadly, aggressive. He felt as though he would be a shark, well, the old definition of it. Once he met a red shark called Eijirou Kirishima he learnt the sea creature's true nature. A warm bubbly animal. Nothing as he felt he was.

"Hey Bakubro! Can I show you this tiktok?"

"Sure."

After many waves hitting the coast, lunch time had arrived. Bakugo took off, floating to the feeding place. He sat with his fishy crew.

Mina the dolphin. Sero the hammershark. Kirishima the red shark. Kaminari the goldfish.

"Guys!" The dolphin squealed as she flapped her tail. "Did you guys hear Momo swear! That was the first time."

"She did?" The goldfish asked.

"Gosh Denki, you're so forgetful! Do I have to tell the whole story?"

In physics, there was a substitute teacher which meant the class could do whatever they desired. One girl was particularly enjoying it, London the whale. She spewed out water with her laughs. Then it happened. Momo chatted with her friend. However, London felt irritated and decided to turn around and face her.

"Can you shut up?"

Momo stared back. "Excuse me, you fucking human?"

"Amigos, you should have seen the look on her face she was fuming!" The hammershark wheezed.

It seemed there was light in the darkest part of the ocean. Lights would glow from each of his friend's chests. They lit up the area, giving Bakugo the light he begged for. But it would only last so long before they swam away so he had to prepare for the darkness. It would be foolish to rely on their light.

Mina a glowing dolphin, circling around to shine the area. She worried for her best friend, Bakugo. Seeing the stiff eyeballs as he sulked. Why couldn't he see it? The light he gave, brightest of all. A shiny merman tail full of red sequins that matched his eyes. It was almost as if he didn't know that.

The hope would regrow and lift the merman again, as the next day rises. Waves rised and fell for a reason. One day he would enjoy the darkness by shining his own light but in order for it to be, he had to fill the requirement of resilience.

Bakugo rested in his room, spread out on the fluffy blanket. Music blasted from his phone, despite the chappy quality. He wanted a speaker but needed to save up for that chance. Then he would truly be in paradise. For now he would hug his duck and close his eyes to the beats, imagining himself accordingly. His teacher would return later... something about some meeting he had to attend. His duck had been there for about eleven years, a reliable ally. There through his worst days, able to wipe his tears away with his beak to encourage him to keep going.

The day he bought it will always be fondly remembered. Five years old and Easter was nearby. He skirted the shop floor with his squeaky school schools and noticed the stuffed animals. Giant duckies! He lifted one up and felt the soft pastel yellow fur against his cheek and begged his mother to buy it. She looked at the price and refused so Bakugo went back home deflated. His father saw the pout on his boy and patted him on the head.

"You can check a day after Easter! It'll be cheaper."

He somehow managed to convince his mum to return to the shop on the day after Easter. He ran to the area and there were no duckies left. They must have ran out, he was broken. Dragging his feet along the floor he saw a yellow wing and paused, turning around to see the wing. It was a ducky! He lifted it and refused to part. Someone must have misplaced the last one and he was the lucky one to find it. Bakugo couldn't help but jump up and down. His mother was skeptical but couldn't refuse after seeing the reduction in price and the duck soon became Bakugo's second best friend, right after Izuku.
