Ayaan was checking Roshni’s temperature while she stubbornly kept her gaze away from Daksh, giving him the cold shoulder.
“After this, get fresh. Use the bathroom and take a shower. You’ve been in this room since last night,” Ayaan said. She only nodded in response.
“How long do I have to be like this? Ayaan, tell him to leave me. I don’t want to sit on his lap,” she complained, speaking to Ayaan but meaning it for Daksh.
“You’re done with the check-up, right? But how will she take medicine without food? Ayaan, bring something so she can take it,” Daksh instructed looking at Ayaan. But Ayaan was busy preparing an injection.
“You’re giving her an injection?” Daksh asked, glancing at Roshni, who immediately looked at Ayaan with wide eyes.
Ayaan only hummed in confirmation, not looking up.
“its the best option,” he said flatly. Roshni kept staring at him nervously, her eyes fixed on every move.
Daksh covered her eyes with his palm not wanting her to get scared and then put on any drama.
“Don’t do this!” she protested, pulling his hand away from her eyes.
Then she suddenly blurted, “Ayaan, you’re the best in this whole world! I love you so much! I’ll cook the best food for you, you know? You’re my bestest brother.”
Ayaan turned to her finally and sighed. “I love you too… but I’m sorry.” he mumble patting her back.
“Ayaan…” she started, but Daksh quickly cut her off.
“Roshni, shh. Don’t disturb him,” Daksh murmured, turning her face toward his chest.
“Ayaan, I’m your younger sister. Look at me just once. I know you can replace it with something else. Would you like to see your little sister crying first because of your brother, and now because of you? Do you hate me so much?” Her voice shook, close to breaking into sobs. Everything she said was deliberately made to Ayaan's heart melt.
Both men looked at each other and sighed, shaking their heads.
“Turn her toward you,” Ayaan said. Daksh gently shifted her so her back was facing Ayaan..
“Wait, wait, you… you… you…” Roshni stammered.
“Yes? Say it,” Ayaan prompted.
“You’re not injecting in my hands!” she burst out.
“Roshni, it won’t even take two minutes. Trust me. Just close your eyes and look at Daksh,” Ayaan said calmly.
“Then send him out!” she demanded, pointing at Daksh.
“Me? You want me out?” Daksh asked incredulously, pointing to himself.
“Yes, out! This is happening just because of you!” she yelled, glaring at him.
Daksh exchanged a look with Ayaan, sighed, and stood up to leave. But suddenly, Roshni grabbed him by the waist, refusing to let go.
“You just said you don’t want me here why are you holding me now?” Daksh asked, baffled.
She didn’t answer, but she also didn’t release him. Her face rested on her stomach her. Her mind was telling her to bite him but since this was not the time for something like this, she just rested her face on his stomach. Daksh take her back on his lap turning to her face to his chest.
“Just do it fast. She’s creating drama now,” Daksh muttered.
Ayaan nodded and sat beside her. “Relax,” he whispered softly.
