"Daksh, water," she said softly. He looked at her before nodding his head.
He carefully pulled his hand from beneath her head and stood up.
"I'm coming in just a few minutes," he said, putting on the clothes that were lying on the floor before leaving the room.
He came back within minutes and handed her a glass of water.
"First, sit down and drink this, Roshni," he said when he found her drinking water while still lying down.
"I don't want to sit."
"No excuses, Roshni. Sit down," he said firmly. She rolled her eyes, sat up with a hiss, and adjusted the blanket over herself.
After taking a few sips, she handed the glass back to Daksh.
"I want some juice now."
"Juice? Okay, wait I'll be back in a minute," he said, heading toward the kitchen. Moments later, he returned with a glass of juice.
After drinking a little, she handed it back again.
"I want flavoured milk," she said. He nodded silently and went to the kitchen again, returning with strawberry-flavoured milk.
After a few sips, she returned the glass.
"Almond flavour milk," she said innocently, looking up at Daksh.
"Okay," Daksh replied, sighing as he went downstairs again.
"I don't like its taste. Can I get chocolates?"
"Roshni, let's go downstairs. Then you can get whatever you want. Get dressed," he said. Roshni shook her head.
"Don't you remember Ayaan told me to rest? I can't leave the bed, and my stomach is hurting again," she said, placing a hand on her belly and lying down once more.
Daksh sighed and went downstairs again. He returned with chocolates, snacks, and toffees, placing them beside her on the bed.
Roshni picked up the chocolate, took a few bites, and set it down.
Daksh looked at her with raised eyebrows.
"You told me you ordered food. Where is it? I'm hungry," she asked.
Daksh sat on the bed, glaring at her playfully.
"Wait here, ma'am. I'll be back in just two minutes," he said before going to the kitchen again.
"I'm sure she's doing this on purpose," he muttered to himself as he started chopping vegetables for a salad and cutting some fruit. When he came back to the room, Roshni was eating chips straight from the packet.
"First—wash up or food?"
"Food."
"Okay, sit properly. Here, wear this T-shirt," he said, picking one up from the floor and handing it to her.
She lifted her arms silently, and he understood. Moving closer, he helped her put it on.
"Anything else, ma'am? Should I comb your hair too?" he teased.
"After the shower, do it," she said, running her fingers through her tangled hair.
Daksh rolled his eyes but smiled and handed her the plate.
"Finish everything," he said, digging into his own food.
Roshni just stared at him and then at her plate.
"What?" he asked.
She simply opened her mouth.
"You want me to feed you?" he asked. She said nothing, just opened her mouth again.
He sighed, smiling softly, and brought a spoon to her lips. She smiled, and together they finished their meal.
" You know, I feel like whenever I feed you, you eat more than usual. I should feed you more often." He said with grin and stood, collecting the plates.
"Go take a shower," he ordered.
She shook her head in reply.
"What now, Roshni?"
"I already took two showers today. I don't want another one. And look—it's raining outside, it's cold. Why did you touch me and now you're forcing me to shower?" she said, wrapping herself tighter in the blanket.
"Okay, fine. I'll bring a wet cloth. Just wipe yourself."
"Rather than that, I'd prefer a shower. Daksh, let's take one together," she said, opening her arms.
Daksh chuckled and scooped her up into his arms.
"Let's go then, babe," he whispered, carrying her into the bathroom.
He turned on the shower, and Roshni jumped against him as the cold water hit.
"It's cold!" she complain, clinging to him.
"Sorry, let me switch it to hot," he said, his hands encircling her waist.
As the hot water poured down, Roshni flinched again.
"Too hot," she complained.
Daksh sighed and turned the shower off.
"Roshni, why are you behaving like this?"
"What can I do? The water's either too hot or too cold," she said with a pout.
"Okay," he said patiently, turning on the tap and filling the tub with a mix of hot and cold water. He stirred it until the temperature felt right.
He took her hand and dipped it in.
"Is it okay now?" he asked.
She nodded.
"So, we can take a bath now, right?" he asked gently, cupping her face.

In evening they sat together on the couch. Roshni kept switching channels restlessly while Daksh worked on his laptop.
"Daksh, find me a good channel. I want to watch something nice," she said.
Daksh sighed in frustration "she'd said that at least a hundred times already." Daksh thought, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Give me the remote. Go to sleep it's late. Will you stay awake till midnight?"
"I'm not sleepy. I want to watch something," she replied stubbornly.
Daksh smiled faintly, setting his laptop aside. He placed her head on his lap and began gently patting her hair.
"What am I, a child? Who sleeps like this?" she mumbled, though her eyelids were already heavy.
Daksh didn't reply. He just kept stroking her hair, watching her drift off within minutes.
He looked down at her and smiled softly.
"Did some spoiled kid's soul possess you today? You've been troubling me all evening. I swear, our baby will be just like you—you're giving me a trailer already," he whispered, brushing his fingers through her hair.
"I love you, baccha. Sleep tight," he murmured, pressing a kiss to her cheek and then to her forehead.
