Roshni was eating quietly while Ayaan and Daksh exchanged tense glances.
"Roshni, is it good?" Daksh asked softly. She nodded without looking up.
"You're so lucky," Daksh teased, "Ayaan never cooks for me."
Hearing this, Roshni pushed her spoon toward him.
"Let her eat. Roshni, you eat it's not for him. He can cook for himself." Ayaan snapped, glaring at Daksh.
Daksh chuckled but slid closer, pulling Roshni gently against him. "Are you feeling anything else, baccha?"
Her voice was low. "Cramps... headache... nausea."
Then, without looking at either of them, she whispered, "Actually, I... I bought some pills......Contraceptive pills."
Both men froze. Daksh let out a breath of relief. "Thank God..." he muttered under his breath.
But Ayaan's face darkened. "Which pills? Show me. How could you take something like this without asking? Do you even think? Should I remind you not to take medicine without consulting first? Is your brain really that useless?" He tapped her head sharply with his palm.
Tears welled in Roshni's eyes. Her hand tightened around the spoon, ready to fling it away, but Daksh quickly caught her wrist.
"No," he whispered in her ear, trying to calm her.
"Let her throw it! You're taking advantage of everything. Go ahead, Roshni throws it, and then see if anyone here is worse than me." Ayaan barked.
Daksh raised his voice slightly. "Ayaan, calm down. She just took a pill. It's not a big deal it's not like she found it lying around. She bought it from the shop. I would've done the same."
"You shut up!" Ayaan shot back. "Who told you not to use protection? Do you want kids now? Go adopt one if you're so desperate. She's barely stepped into adulthood and you're already giving her responsibilities she can't handle!"
Daksh glared but stayed silent.
Turning back to Roshni, Ayaan's voice turned cold. "When did you take it last?"
"Last night....." she whispered. "The salesperson said not to take it immediately after... after, you know..." Her cheeks burned as she hid her face.
Ayaan's jaw tightened. "Visit a gynecologist. Tomorrow. Today. Whenever you can. But go. I'm leaving." He pushed his chair back and walked out of the room.
"Ayaan, wait! Why are you so angry?" Daksh followed.
"Don't come after me," Ayaan snapped. "I'm going to the hospital. If you want to follow, then take Roshni with you since she had enough sense to do this on her own."
"Do I really have to take her? I don't think she'll agree..." Daksh muttered.
"Then I'll take her myself. And if she does something stupid again, I'll scold her however I want," Ayaan shot back, furious.
"Fine, but at least eat lunch before leaving. You're giving her nothing for the side effects. She doesn't even have the energy to stand," Daksh said worriedly.
"I already gave her food. Give her juice too. And take her to a doctor. She's probably bleeding too much, that's why her energy's low," Ayaan replied sharply.
Daksh frowned. "When will you come back? Just give her some medicine for now she won't agree to come with me, trust me. I'm elder to you, why are you defying me?"
"I'm going to the hospital. Why do you want me scolded by my seniors?" Ayaan muttered and walked out.
DAKSH'S P.O.V
What do I even do? Should I book an appointment or wait for Ayaan? He'll bring medicine, I'm sure. Let's just order her some juice first.
It's really a once-in-a-lifetime thing getting scolded by your younger brother.
When I entered our room, Roshni was still nibbling slowly at her food.
"Roshni, you're still not done?" I asked. She looked up, her eyes brimming with tears.
"He's angry with me. He scolded me so much. But I only took the pills because... because I don't want to be pregnant right now. I don't want to share you with anyone not yet." Tears slipped down her cheeks.
"He didn't even listen. He just scolded me and left. I won't talk to him," she muttered, wiping her face.
"Roshni," I said gently, though my tone carried warning, "he wasn't wrong. Who told you to take medicine on your own?"
"I didn't take it on my own! I went to the pharmacy, and the person instructed me how to use it," she defended.
"Did you even tell me? No, right? Why didn't you?" My voice sharpened.
Suddenly she hurled her plate onto the floor. I glared, grabbing her hands tightly. "Roshni, what is this behavior? We're just talking."
"No, we're not!" she burst out. "First your brother scolded me, and now you're doing the same! Do you know how embarrassing it was for me to buy those pills? You want a kid? Then go be pregnant yourself! I'll get surgery so I never have to be pregnant!"
Her voice cracked, and she turned her face away.
My heart clenched. I pulled her into my arms, stroking her back. "Shh... it's okay. No one will scold you anymore, alright? But you should've told me. I don't want kids now either, baccha. I'll be more careful next time. I promise."
In less than a minute, her anger melted. She rested against me, fragile as a child. Maybe it was the weakness making her so quick to flare up. Either way, I had to do something.
"Roshni, I'm booking your appointment," I said quietly.
"No..." she mumbled, snuggling into my chest. "I'm fine now. Even if you book it, I won't go."
I should snuggle to her chest its actually soft and I don't know why but I think I want comfort too. What if she get serval side effects of the pills.
