Roshni and Daksh were eating their breakfast when Daksh's phone buzzed. His expression shifted instantly tension clouded his face. Roshni noticed how nervous he had become every time a message came.
" Daksh, what's happening to you these days? You seem so upset," Roshni asked softly.
He only shook his head and looked at his screen. Closing his eyes for a moment, he already knew what the results would be.
" Roshni... what if you're pregnant?" Daksh asked, his eyes locking onto hers, as if he could read her soul.
" It's not possible. Remember, I took a pill for it," she replied with a nervous laugh.
" You are pregnant, Roshni."
The spoon slipped from her hand. " No... I can't... I don't want to. Daksh, let's do an abortion, please," she begged desperately.
Daksh turned his face away, jaw tight. "No, we can't. I'll take care of our baby, Roshni. Why do you worry?"
" Then what about me? I don't want another person between us," she shouted, moving toward him.
" What about you, what? You are my love, Roshni. My jaan, my life. And the baby will be our life our symbol of love. Don't worry, I won't let you do anything. I'll do everything. You just focus on yourself. I'll take care of you and our baby. But please... don't talk about aborting it." His voice broke as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
" Promise?" she whispered.
He nodded and gently lifted her shirt, kissing her belly.
" Why are you crying?" Roshni asked softly, wiping a tear that rolled down his cheek.
" I thought you would deny me... deny the idea of keeping the baby. I know I made the biggest mistake by not using any protection.... I know you just step into adulthood. But still I want to be selfish... I don't want to kill our baby." he admitted, pulling her onto his lap, one hand protectively resting on her belly.
" Looks like my baby will get a very loving father. Do I have to be the strict one then? Don't exchange roles let me be sweet," she teased, resting her head on his shoulder.
Daksh tore a piece of bread and fed it to her.
" Looks like we have to change our breakfast menu. So, my queen, what do you want? We'll make only what you like," he said warmly.
Roshni giggled. " Simple pasta, red sauce pasta, white sauce pasta, tomato pasta, chili pasta, garlic bread, pancakes... anything from them."
" Looks like I'll have to ask Ayaan. By the way, he told me he'll come by anytime to meet you. And when I'm in college during lunch, come to my office. We'll eat together," he said. She nodded.
" Since I'm pregnant now, I wanted to go on honeymoon... will you take me after our semester exams?" she asked shyly.
He thought for a moment. " We'll see. And one more thing if I book an appointment this time, don't run away. We want our baby healthy like us, right? You're not going to deliver the baby at home." He cupped her face, and she nodded again.
" I'll take you to college today. No need to travel in public. I'll drop you a little far you can walk the rest or take a three-wheeler," he said, pulling out his keys.
" Why don't you keep some snacks in your bag? Eat whenever you feel like it, but not in class. Okay, let's go, babe." He helped her down from his lap.
" You're so happy. If you're happy, then I'm happy too," She murmured, kissing his lips softly.
" If you feel weak or tired, just come to my office or message me," he added, hugging her tightly, reluctant to let her go.
" I want to stay like this today. I don't want to go anywhere else. I just want to be in your arms," Daksh mumbled into her hair. Roshni smiled.
