When Sarah was a little girl, she always fantasized about her ideal first date. She had a clear vision of the outfit she would wear and the food she wanted to enjoy. She planned to have her nails and makeup professionally done at the salon.

Now, as she stood in front of the mirror, she carefully examined her appearance. She had chosen a white lace cardigan over a black tank top paired with brown printed shorts, completing the look with an owl necklace and stylish boots.

As she finished preparing for the date, she made a quick stop at Susannah's room, knowing Belly would be there.

It turned out that Belly was going on a date with Cameron. After the debutante lunch, she caught up with Cam outside the Country Club. She explained to him that she was technically a deb and had visited the marina the day before, only to find his boat had already departed. If he had turned around, he would have seen a sweaty version of her gazing longingly at his boat.

Cam didn't want her to feel wistful, but the feeling of wistfulness had already taken hold of her. Belly joked that she might be stuck in a perpetual state of wistfulness now. He then suggested going to a drive-in movie tonight to lift her spirits, and she agreed.

"I can't believe we both have dates!" Sarah exclaimed as she entered Susannah's room and sat on the bed.

Belly chuckled. "I can't believe it either."

"You guys look really cute. Sarah, you look fresh as a daisy. I love you in white with your tan. It sets you off like a picture frame." Susannah commented from the chair next to the bed.

"Thank you, Susannah." Sarah replied with a smile.

"Both of you are going to have so much fun tonight." Susannah said enthusiastically.

"You look nice, hon." Laurel praised her daughter as she entered the room.

Susannah laughed. "I can't believe crop tops are back. Remember how I thought I was such hot shit in that baby tee I wore freshman year?" She looked at the two teenagers with a grin. "Have fun tonight."

"Are you guys not driving with us?" Laurel asked.

Susannah stood up and wrapped an arm around the two girls. "Um... didn't the girls tell you? They have a date?"

"Sorry, mum. Um, his name is Cam." Belly informed.

"Yeah, his mum works at the club. Really nice boy, very smart." Susannah assured.

"Like, Harvard smart." Belly added, biting her bottom lip to suppress her smile.

"It's fine." Laurel said, laughing lightly. "Of course you can go. I've dragged you to enough of these book parties over the years. Have a great date. Both of you."

"Thanks." Belly said appreciatively.

"Come on." Sarah insisted, grabbing her best friend's hand. "We've got dates to go to."
