The dance

Did you ever stood for the person who is humiliated for helping you?

Olivia's POV:

"Shall we dance?"Dylan's date asked him and everything became normal.

Alex and Eric went to dance with their dates. Eric got a cute little girl as a date. They are so cute together. Now it's only me and sam. I know he will never ask me for a dance so why expect something and feel bad? I ignored the feeling and watched people dancing. I never danced because I was never asked.

"Wanna dance?" Sam asked with a smile.

"Ummm are you sure? It's not like I will feel bad if you don't ask. It's fine."

"I want to dance with you. Can't I ask my date for a dance?" I nodded and we went on the dance floor. Dylan saw us and grinned. Not only Dylan Alex, Kate, Eric, everyone in the party are looking at us. I am scared because of the attention. Sam noticed my discomfort.

"Clam down. Look at me, don't care about others." I felt a dip.

Sam held my waist, my heart started beating fast. I wrapped my arms around his neck awkwardly, he pulled me closer by my waist. I can hear our heart beats. I hope this moment will last longer.
All I see is him, I don't care who is looking at us. We started moving slowly I can feel his breath on my lips. I held him tightly not knowing what to do. We are moving in a rhythm and I was lost looking into his eyes. Suddenly Sam came closer and whispered in my ear.

"You look beautiful." he made sure to touch  his lips at the edge of my ear. For a second I stopped breathing. No matter how many times I heard this today I was more happy after hearing it from him. His eyes met mine and moved down to my lips but he soon recovered. There is awkwardness between us and looked away. Alex and Kate has a knowing smile. I blushed HARD.

After the dance we all sat together but I can still feel Sam's eyes on me. Am I hallucinating? Two men came to us. I feel a sudden stiffness in Sam's body. 

"How is the party so far?" One of them asked Alex in a serious tone.

"Good dad. We are having fun." No one, not even Kate or Eric looked at him, they all were tense, mostly scared.

"Good. Don't do anything stupid I am very serious about this party, okay? I think everyone here understood" Alex nodded. Sam's dad is about to leave but the man beside him starts talking.

"Do you know your son Samuel did? He was involved in a fight to save a girl" He said in a mocking tone. I know he is talking about the fight with Ashton and the girl is me. Sam's dad is angry, he glared at sam.

"So you are fighting on the streets now? You always want to get into trouble don't you? What are you now, a street dog? fighting on the roads for a girl" he shouted. Everybody in the party is now looking at us. Kate flinched. I feel bad for treating them this way. Sam did nothing wrong, he actually helped me but his father can't understand. The guy Martin smirked, he is clearly enjoying the scene.

"If it was not for your grandfather I would have kicked you all out. All you do is get into trouble and make my reputation bad, you are never worth being my son."
Sam is trying hard to control his anger. Nobody in the party spoke, not even kate, dylan or alex. It's a pin drop silence. Eric has tears in his eyes, I felt bad. Sam is in this situation because of me.

"Because of me Sam fought with Ashton" I started.

"OLIVIA" came Sam's angry voice but ignored.

"Ashton was bullying me, beating the crap out of me. That's when Sam and Dylan helped me. If it isn't them I don't know what would have happened to me. I am always thankful to Sam."

"It's not his duty to help all the charity cases" came his dad's voice. How worse can his father be?

"So you're telling that Sam shouldn't help anyone and he should just ignore when a girl is shouting for help and all you think is about your reputation? I don't know how a person like you got a son like Sam, even this family with a good heart. Helping a girl in need will not make Sam a street dog. If you don't know the value of people then stay silent, don't say they are not worthy. To be frank you're not worth being a father to a guy like sam. People like you will think that they are always correct but guess what, you are wrong about sam" with that I dragged sam out of the party. I don't want him to get hurt anymore he had enough.

We sat in the parking lot. He is silent. I know I crossed my line but I can't help it. Whenever parents talk as if they are always right without giving a chance to explain I will be pissed because I have been in that situation many times. Mom never listened to me, she always blamed me for everything that happened.

"Sorry. I ruined everything. I shouldn't have talked with your father that way" I mumbled. He stared at me.

"Are you angry? Of course you will be angry. What a stupid question."

"I am not angry" he is looking at me with an unknown emotion.

"For some reason dad hates me, mom and eric. He always wait for a chance to scold us and when there is a chance he will do anything to make us feel bad for our own existence. He can tolerate Alex to some extent and we don't know the reason for his behavior. If he had a chance to scold or humiliate me then he would never waste it. Don't worry." Sam said with a sad smile. 

My heart clenched, since the day I met him all I want is to see him smile. I want to see him being happy. I don't know why but seeing him sad made me worried. He is going through a lot but he never show it.

Me, sam, dylan, liam not only us everyone has their own story. The past where we went through a lot but still we are fighting, acting normal, always pretending like nothing happened and motivating ourselves to be strong. That's how life works right? You can't just keep hanging on your problems. You should leave everything behind and everyday is a fresh start.

We sat in silence for sometime then I got an idea. I don't want him to be sad anymore, I want to make him forget everything.

"Come. Let's go" I stood.

"Where?" He is confused. 

"You will see. I don't want you to be in a bad mood. Come on." he stared at me with a confused look.

"Pleaseeeeeee" I gave him a pout with puppy eyes. That will work right? I never tried.

"Fine" I smiled in victory.
