Emily

Breakup hurts but did you know how much an untold love story hurts? All you can do is watch them from far away and one day it will be too late to express your love that will make you regret throughout your life.

Olivia's POV:

Today is pretty normal. I went to college, came home, did my assignments and now I am with Sam having dinner.

"What's your plans for thanksgiving?" I asked him.

"Nothing much I will go home with Dylan, spend time with mom, alex and eric that's all" I nodded.

A boy came to our table and he is looking at sam.

"Hey sam! How are you? It has been long."

"I am fine. How are you?"

"Good. How is dylan?"

"He is good too" he looked at me.

"Oli, caleb. Caleb, Olivia" I waved at him, he smiled.

"I was worried about you and Dylan after Emily's death. You people were inseparable and Emily is Dylan's first love. I know it will be hard for you guys to forget everything that happened. I thought of meeting you both to check on you but I was a bit busy with college." Sam glared at him, I am confused.

Who is Emily? If she is so important to them why did Sam never tell me about her?

"We will spend some time together and bring Dylan as well when you're free."

"Sure" Sam said in a serious tone and Caleb left. Now I am curious why they didn't tell me about her? Who is she?

"Who is Emily?"

"She is a friend. Dylan, Emily and I are always together but she died in an accident last year."

"She was in the same college?"

"No. She wanted to be a doctor. She was in another college."

"She is Dylan's first love?" If she is Dylan's first love I am sure he is in pain of losing her but he is very good at masking his emotions.

Maybe that is the reason he didn't like the idea of me being with Sam. Maybe he thought the same situation would repeat and Sam would hurt.

"It's Dylan's story. Sorry, I can't tell you" I nodded understandingly. I saw a sudden change in Sam's mood but I let it aside.

Next day I went to Sam's apartment. He said he will be there within thirty minutes and dylan will keep me company. I knocked the door Dylan opened with a smile.

"Come in princess" I hesitantly went inside.

"Hungry?"

"No" there is an awkward silence.

"Sam told me that you know about Emily." I nodded avoiding his gaze.

"Emily joined us after two years. She was always funny and beautiful.

After a few years I started having feelings for Emily. First I was scared that I might ruin our friendship but no matter how hard I tried I can't see her as a friend. It took me two years to tell her that I like her.

One day I proposed her. She was shocked, she said this will not happen and never saw me that way. I can't tell Sam because I know I already lost one friend and I can't lose another. We acted normally around Sam but it was always awkward. Sam observed everything and asked me but I didn't tell him.

Sam and I went to his grandfather's house to enjoy the weekend. Suddenly I got a call from Emily.

"Hey did I disturb you? Are you busy?" She asked nervously.

"No. I am free."

"I want to talk about something. when will you be back?"

"It will take two days. I will be back on Sunday evening."

"Fine then we will talk when you come home" she said shyly.

"You can talk now" why is she behaving weird?

"No I want to say something while you're in front of me so that I can see you, it can wait."

"Okay" I still didn't understand why she called out of nowhere.

"Umm...okay then have a happy weekend" with that she hung up.

Sam had a smile on his face but I didn't get it.

"Why are you smiling?" I am confused.

"You will know" is all he said.

We came back home. I am scared and excited to meet Emily. First I went to her house. I couldn't wait to see her but what I saw made my heart break.

Emily is dead. She met with an accident. The girl I love is gone forever and I didn't get a chance to give her a proper goodbye. She wanted to say something but she was gone. The thought of me living without her itself made me go crazy.

Sam and I were in shock for many days. We didn't talk with anyone. Kate was scared, she tried a lot to bring us back. No matter how hard we tried Emily never left our thoughts.

"She likes you." Sam whispered, my head snapped. He is looking at me with tears.

"She came to me after you proposed to her. She told everything. I was shocked but I am happy. She was scared because our friendship might ruin so she came to ask me whether I am ok with it or not.

Of course I am happy, if you both are happy I will be more happy. I still remember how happy she was when I said I am okay with your relationship. She wanted to tell you but she said she will wait until we come back. That is the reason she called you. Now she is no more, she never got a chance to express her feelings." my heart broke. She likes me, she really does but she is gone.

"It has been almost a year I am still trying to forget her."

I can't stop my tears. He went through a lot, first with his mother and then Emily. I hugged him and tears were silently falling. He took a photo from his pocket and showed me.

The girl in the photo is Emily. She is beautiful, has a wide smile on her face. Dylan's tears fell on that photo. I can see how much he miss her. We stayed silent not knowing what to say.
