"My full name is Hanabi Todoroki. My son was Hisashi Todoroki, and he's the brother of my other son, Enji Todoroki. Your father." Those words that fell from the elder lady's mouth just shattered Fuyumi's entire mindscape.
How is that possible? Why? Why didn't she know. Why didn't her father ever say anything? Does Izuku know? Do her siblings know? Oh God.
OH GOD, She kissed Izuku, and he kissed her back, which might make him misinterpret things.
"Your father and Izuku's father had a very estranged relationship. You see, after the death of my husband, something broke inside of Enji. He didn't like the fact that his father sacrificed himself for someone else. So when Hisashi decided to give up his dream of being a hero and instead opted to do something else to help people. He became a firefighter. Enji had always dreamed about being a hero duo with his brother, but after my husband's passing, Hisashi found a new dream. And Enji didn't like it."
Enji despised that his brother went back on his word to always be together as heroes. And then Hisashi broke that promise.
First, a villain took his father from him, and now Hisashi was abandoning him. At least, that's what it looked like from Enji's perspective.
Hisashi was a successful firefighter and loved by many of the locals. While Enji became one of the strongest pro heroes ever with the most villains detained, even more than All Might. But he was still dissatisfied. Taking out all those villains won't bring his father back.
And then Hisashi died sacrificing his life too. And Enji changed.
"The first time Izuku met Enji was during Hisashi's funeral. They didn't like each other, and they never will. But Enji still did his best to take care of me and Izuku. He sent us checks every month for necessities. Although I've never actually used them, they're just sitting there collecting dust."
"But why not? Couldn't you have gotten a better home? Somewhere nicer?" Fuyumi couldn't understand why they still lived here. Hell, why didn't they move in with them?
"I could. I absolutely could have bought a new home. But why would I force Izuku to leave his home. This is the house he grew up in, the house his father raised him in. There's no way he would've ever wanted to leave this place. So I wasn't gonna force him to do something he didn't want to do. So we stayed."
The young Todoroki was stunned, never could she have imagined the trauma that he fathered had lived with. The pain he felt. Maybe that's why he's trying to reconcile with them. Maybe that's why he's being nice now.
That's why she let her come and take care of Hanabi, cus it's his mother.
"Come now, my child, why don't we lighten up a little and tell me about my grandchildren. I know that Enji has four kids. I wish to know what they're up to."
Fuyumi explained each and everything about his siblings. From Touya to Natsuo and to Shouto. She told her of the tragedy that befell Touya. He ran away from home after Enji threw him to the side for being too weak.
He was pronounced dead a year after his departure.
The incident involving Rei, Fuyumi's mother, throwing boiling water at Shouto's face, resulted in her being admitted to a mental hospital.
"Oh dear, it seems I need to scold Enji about how to take care of his family." She had words for her dumbass son.
"He's gotten better, actually. Mom's still in the hospital, but he's been making visits trying to make things right. She's already forgiven him, but she doesn't want to leave the hospital in fear of what she did to Shouto. Me and Natsuo visit, but Shoto hasn't visited once ever since. It sucks but we can't force him to do anything."
