Chapter 10

"The Great Branch Line Race"

Told By Mark Morhagan

"Welcome to Sodor, Pop. 75,000, give or take..."

Created by John Andrews

One Day, Thomas, Bluey, and Bingo were waiting at a Junction when a Bus arrived in the yard.

Bertie: I'm Bertie. Who are you?

Bluey: Nice to meet you, Bertie! My name's Bluey! This is my sister, Bingo!

Bingo: Hi Bertie.

Thomas: And I'm Thomas. I run this Branch Line.

Suddenly, Out of Bertie stepped a male Midnight Blue Labrador. To Thomas's surprise, this dog only spoke French.

Jean-Luc: Bonjour! (Hello!)

Thomas: Hi.

Jean-Luc: Comment allez-vous? (How are you?)

Thomas: I'm not sure I understand.

Bluey: Wait a minute! I recognize that language! It's French! That must mean it's... (looks at him and gasped happily) Jean-Luc!

Jean-Luc: Bluey!

The two old friends hugged each other for the first time since they went out camping all those years ago.

Jean-Luc: Comment vas-tu? (How've you been?)

Bluey: It's been great living on Sodor, working with all my friends. Especially you.

Jean-Luc: Qui est le train bleu et le chien rouge qui vous ressemble? (Who's the Blue train and the red puppy who looks like you?)

Bluey: Oh! (shows him Thomas and Bingo) Jean-Luc, this is my little sister Bingo, and she's standing on the footplate of my companion Thomas the Tank Engine. You can call him Thomas.

Jean-Luc: Salut Thomas et Bingo! Je suis Jean Luc! J'ai rencontré Bluey il y a longtemps quand nous faisions du camping.

Thomas: It's nice to meet you, Jean-Luc.

Bingo: Same.

Bertie: So you're Thomas and Bluey! I remember now! You got stuck in the snow, and I rescued your passengers, and then Terence and that Jack Russell pulled you out! In fact, Jean-Luc and I have come to help with your passengers today!

Bluey: Why, that's very...

Thomas: Help me? Rubbish! I don't need help from a bus! Besides, I can go faster than you!

Bertie: You can't!

Thomas: I can too! I'm up for a challenge!

Bluey: Oh, I know what this means...
