CHAPTER 4

Really Useful Engine

Told By Mark Morhagan

"Welcome to Sodor, Pop. 75,000, give or take..."

Created by John Andrews

Every Morning, Sir Topham Hatt has to leave to catch his train. But before he did so, he always stopped to see Bluey, Bingo, and Thomas.

Sir Topham: Hello you three.

Bluey: Good Morning, Sir!

Sir Topham Hatt: Now, Thomas, don't let those silly trucks tease you. Remember, you're a special helper in my yard today. Keep up the good work, and you'll be really useful!

Thomas: Yes sir! Thank you, sir!

Sir Topham Hatt walks away, as Thomas sets off with Bluey and Bingo

There were lots and lots of cars and coaches in the Yard, and Thomas and the girls worked hard, pushing and pulling them into place, and now he knew almost as much about cars as Edward.

Thomas: What about those? They haven't been moved.

Bluey: Thomas wait. There's orders that say You mustn't touch those things. This is only used for Emergencies.

Judy: (gasp) Jerome?

Jerome: Judy?

Jerome and Judy: EMERGENCY?!

Bluey: No you two. It's just us. Bluey, Bingo and Thomas. I was telling him we mustn't touch you in case there is one.

Jerome: I see.

Bluey: Although they might look strange, Judy and Jerome are very useful. I believe Mr. C calls those strange-looking arm things "Cranes."

Then, As if on cue, Mr. Conductor appeared in a shower of Sparkly Gold Dust.

Mr. Conductor: That's right Bluey. Judy and Jerome, and that Coach over there are all part of the Breakdown Train.

Bluey and Bingo: Oooh!

Thomas: It's for emergencies.

Bingo: I don't get it, actually.

Mr. Conductor: You see Bingo, When there's an accident, the workmen get their tools and climb aboard the coach so they can mend the line. Judy and Jerome, the cranes, can lift heavy things like Engines, coaches, and even trucks.

Bluey and Bingo: Ahh!

Mr. Conductor: Sorry, I must be off now. I got to take Henry's Stopping Service. I'll see you two later. Goodbye!
