Chapter 16

"Chloe and Henry's Night on the Flying Kipper"

Told By Mark Morhagan

"Welcome to Sodor, Pop. 75,000, give or take..."

Created by John Andrews

One Winter's Evening, Chloe came to see Henry. She had some exciting news to tell him.

Chloe: We'll be out early tomorrow morning, Henry. We've got to take the Flying Kipper. Now don't tell Gordon and Judo this just yet, but I think If we pull the kipper nicely, Sir Topham Hatt will let us take the Wild Nor'Wester Express train! The Special Welsh Coal they gave you is working well!

Henry: Hurrah! That will be lovely!

All kinds of ships use the harbor yard at Knapford Station, on the west coast of the Sudrian Sea. Passenger cruise liners, cargo ships and barges, and fishing tugboats also came into the area.

They unload their fish on the quay. Some of it goes to the local shops and markets in town, and the rest goes to other places and cities across the island, and to other places far away. It's all put on a fast and very special goods train that the railwaymen call "The Flying Kipper."

Henry and Chloe arrived at the Harbor at 5:00 AM. There was Snow and Frost on the ground. Men hustled and shouted, loading the crates of fish. The last door banged, the conductor shone his green lamp, and "The Flying Kipper" was ready to depart!

Henry: Come on! Come on! Don't Be Silly Vans, Don't Be Silly!

The Vans and Trucks shuddered and groaned.

Vans: Troc-Trick! Troc-Trick! Alright! Alright!

Henry: That is better. That is better.

Chloe: Looking good, Henry! Clear Tracks ahead!

Clouds of smoke and Steam Poured from Henry's Funnel into the Cold Winter air, and the fire's light shone brightly. And to Chloe, it was all a magical sight.

Henry: Hurry, Hurry, Hurry! Important Train coming through!

They were going well. Stations and Bridges flashed by as they clattered through. The Morning light grew better, and the signal lights always shone green as they passed by them.

Chloe: Right on time. We should be going through Crosby soon.

Further down the line, Just outside of Crosby, A yellow Signal appeared ahead.

Henry: Slow us down, Chloe. The Yellow Signal means "Prepare to Stop for a Danger Signal."

Chloe: Right. Will do.
