Sun managed to make his brother stop crying at least, but he still wasn't completely recovered. Moon would still avoid talking as much as possible because of how shaky his voice still was, and he was still trembling a bit. Anything that had his tears on them were replaced rather quickly with much comfier things, making the daycare attendant calm down a little more.
You and Sun tried to cheer him up even more, but you guys had no luck. He was too stubborn, and the clock was ticking. Only 10 more minutes remained until the daycare had to open, and Moon had to greet the kids. It was one of the main requirements. You could tell how stressed Sun was getting with the opening time inching closer, and soon enough he couldn't take it anymore.
"I'll be right back!" Sun informed you and Moon as he ran off.
Moon knew immediately what his brother was doing, "Sun, no! You can't do this to me!"
The star ignored him, disappearing behind one of the large play structures. You knew that he was going to that staircase behind the play house, but you couldn't have them know that you knew of it.
"Where is he going?" You asked, playing dumb.
"You'll learn more about it later," Moon replied, "For now I guess we'll have to wait until he returns."
You huffed, wondering when they were going to show you the staircase so that you didn't have to pretend as much. It didn't take long for Sun to return with something behind his back. He tried to keep as much distance from his brother as possible as he giggled.
"Just give it to me already." Moon muttered.
Sun passed a cat plush to Moon, still keeping his distance as an evil looking grin stretched across his face. You didn't realize what it was until it landed in Moons hands, and unlike the other stuffed animals within the daycare it looked older with black patches keeping the fluff within it from escaping. A galaxy theme was plastered on the remaining fur it had, and its beady, blue eyes seemed like they were staring into your soul.
Moon hesitated before hugging it close to him. His breathing slowed as his trembling came to a stop. Was that even breathing that you heard? You didn't know, but it didn't really matter at this point either. He noticed the silence that filled the daycare after a while and looked up slightly, hoping that either Sun and you would respond to his sudden movement. His wish was granted by Sun when he asked, "Are you feeling better now?"
He slightly nodded, and it made you wonder what was so special about this one stuffed cat. It was easy to see that there was some kind of important backstory about it, but what exactly? You didn't get to ask due to the interception of kids giggling right outside the daycare.
"You guys ready?" Sun asked excitedly.
Moon stood up, making you stand up too. You never really enjoyed the two daycare attendants standing over you because it made you feel shorter than you actually were.
"I'm ready," Moon reluctantly replied, "Lets do this."
His voice was less shaky than it was before, but it was still at a lower volume than its usual. You wondered if the children would notice.
"I'm ready!" You answered with a fake cheery tone. You thought you sounded like spongebob with how loud you were.
"Alright! Kids, come on down!"
From there, you heard the kids say their goodbyes to their parents before sliding down the slide one by one. There was a slide that started by the parent drop-off, so that the children would have fun as they entered the daycare. Sun dashed to the ball pit to greet his friends as they landed in it. Moon made sure to lower the lights brightness before heading over to where his brother was. In the process in doing so, he had left the cat stuffed animal on the front counter.
Out of curiosity you picked it up, examining it to look for clues on its backstory. It didn't take long to notice the silver collar strapped along its neck. The front of the tag read Lunar Crystal, which you guessed was the full name of this lifeless feline. You flipped it to read the back of it, and you were surprised to see that it read:
To: Moon. From: Carys
We love you Moon! :)
From the slightly sloppy writing, you were able to confirm that this was from a child. You thought that it was adorable. Before you could even stare at it for too long, the lights brightened, making you snap back into reality as you quickly turned around to see the chaos that took place behind you.
You saw Moon quickly flying back into his designated room with the help of his silver cable as kids surrounded Sun. A lot of them were lightly tugging his baggy pants to gain his attention, as the more quieter ones began to run towards you. You were never the best at dealing with younger audiences, but you still tried your best. Luckily for you, not many new ones were there at the daycare this day.
"Miss Y/L/N?" A young girl named Adele called out as she tugged on your sleeve.
"Yes, Adele?"
"Do you love Sun and Moon?" She asked.
You felt blush creep onto your face. You were confused on why this was happening, and tried to cover it by looking down at the ground. It was too late for that, however, and one of the boys had the courage to scream, "Y/N LOVES SUN AND MOON! THEIR BLUSHING!"
The boy said it like a taunt, making you kind of hate him as he brought all of the attention to you. They all scurried to you as you sat down on the ground, covering you face with your hands. One of them did the wolf whistle somehow, making the rest of them laugh. You never knew that a whole group of kids would be able to embarrassed you this much. At this point you probably looked as red as a tomato.
"Now C'mon Sunbeams! Give Y/N some space!" Sun ordered.
"Why? Do you want them all to yourself or something?" They teased.
"What? NO!" You looked up to see the daycare attendant beginning to turn red. He obviously felt the same thing, "It is against the rules to disrespect someone's personal space, so unless any of you want a timeout... you better get to playing farther away from here!"
Half of the children huffed as they went to do one of the activities provided to them, and as soon as they were all gone he took the chance to approach you with a helping hand.
"Are you alright, Y/N?" He asked with some blush still left on his face.
You hesitated before accepting his help, standing up from your vulnerable position, "Yeah... I'm alright."
He looked you up and down before leaving, looking at you over his shoulder. The children watched all of this happen, and looked down with embarrassment as you went behind the counter. This was obviously going to be a long day. You made sure to take the cat plush with you to assure that it wasn't going to get mixed up with the other stuffed animals. Now that you knew its meaning to Moon, you didn't want to risk some other kid finding it.
Even if you didn't know it, Lunar Crystal at the time was leading you to your future relationship.
