Sarah's pov
I clicked the lock open to my apartment and trudged inside. I'm in a veryy critical condition now, so please don't judge me for being so sluggish like a sloth. After the horrible day that I had at the university, I couldn't even focus on my work at my part-time job. I mixed up the orders of several different customers and gave latte to those who wanted cappuccino and cappuccino to those who wanted lattes. And thus got some scoldings from Mr Jones, the owner of the café. He's very similar to his wife Mrs Jones, the librarian at the university and is very nice and soft person but can be strict too when needed.
Throwing my bag to one side, I plopped down on my couch or should I say fell like a log with my face first on the pillow.
"Aah, so soft," I mumbled inside the soft cotton fabric of the pillow. I moved my hand back as I felt a weight on my back.
"Meow."
She licked the skin of my hand.
"Oh it's you." I sat up and took Meridith in my lap cuddling on her white fluffy furs. "I missed you."
"Meww?"
She tilted her head slightly and looked at me with her jewel like sapphire blue eyes.
"Aaaahhh why are you so cute Meridith??!! I love you so much!"
I hugged her tightly and plopped my head back onto the armrest of the couch. But apparently she didn't like this affectionate action towards her as she growled and hissed, squirming to get out of my tight hug.
"Did I suffocate you?" I asked her worriedly as I made some space for her. She jumped out of the couch and ran away leaping to her favorite spot above the wardrobe beside a high window where the warm sunlight comes almost all day.
I pouted, "Why do you hate me so much?"
"Meoww, Meoow."
(Translation:- 'Cause you're so damn clingy.)
She replied as she made herself comfortable sitting in a loaf on her bed which I had placed there when I noticed how much she particularly liked that spot.
I smiled and rested my head back.
Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath, finally escaping a cursed day.
Buzz...buzz...
Right then, my phone buzzed with a call, reminding me the cursed day is not over yet.
I looked up at the screen and yeah, the thing I was dreading the most for the past few hours appeared.
I slided the green button and put the phone on my ear.
"Sarah?" The other end of the line said.
"Yeah?"
"It's Ben. I called you to ask if you were ready. Shall I send a car?"
"A car? For what? I have two legs you know. I can come on my own," I replied, sarcastically.
Was I too harsh? After all, it wasn't Ben's fault but his mad friend's that I've to go to his house right now.
There was some shifting on the other side and I heard, "Listen Jenkins, it was not an offer. It's an order. Get ready and just hop in the car to get here as soon as possible." It was none other than Maximilian.
I scoffed. "No, you listen to me Collins. For your kind information, I do not take orders from a runaway mad person."
The other end fell silent for some time but soon I heard him say, "Did you just call me mad? I see, so you've already forgotten what you did this morning. Alright, you don't have to obey me, stay at your home and just get ready to face what I do after that, then. Bye."
