His eyes were lost somewhere as he admired the girl in front of him. Katherine, the one and only who had taken his heart and he could do anything for her. Even if she asks of him the most unreachable things in this world⎯ he'll give her all.
But she seemed to be tensed as she glanced here and there biting her nails.
"Babe, something wrong?" Ben asked her as they danced slowly on the music.
"Huh? No," she shook her head but again turned her face to look at something where she was looking at before.
He frowned but kept himself from pushing her to tell him everything. "You know," he started slowly, "When I first met you I had this weird kind of thingy in my chest, like I just wanted for you to continue talking and for you to stay in front of me just a little more and I just- I just wanted to know more of you."
He expressed the words from his heart and a small smile formed on his lips as he felt nostalgia from the moment when he first saw her and fell in love with her kindness towards him. He hadn't received that kind of feeling from anyone else before. He was a single child who didn't even had any parents to look after him. After his grandmother passed away too, he moved to the city⎯ alone. But Katherine was the only one who showed the little acts of kindness as she talked to him compassionately even after he had spoiled her dress after bumping into her accidentally one day. At first he had thought she was just being kind because she knew Max but she carried on taking care of him even when he was sick. And then he knew⎯ he knew he couldn't live without this girl by his side.
"Even when I proposed you-" he laughed recalling a funny moment "-I was⎯"
"Hey babe I think I just remembered something important," she put a hand between him and herself as she broke away from his hug.
"What? But where-"
"I'll see you later," she ignored what he tried to say and went out of his sight into the crowds.
"-are you going?" He ended in a small whisper as he drew back his hand in withdrawal and closed it in a fist.
He let his hand fall at one side as he sighed.
He took a seat at a nearby couch where the place was a bit empty and put a hand on his chest. "It's okay dude. She's said she's gonna come back. Don't worry." He was comforting himself when he noticed Vivianne sitting on the other end of couch and some guy talked to her after he went away saying that he would be back in a minute or two.
"Hey, I didn't know you had a boyfriend too," he said, as he decided to talk to someone to not overthink about Katherine.
"It was not my boyfriend," she replied when she noticed him. Although she didn't like him very much, still it was better than to get bored alone.
"Then?"
She shrugged up her shoulders as she picked up a paper glass from the front table. "Just a cute guy who asked to be my date for tonight."
"Oh," he hummed in understanding. "What's his name?"
She raised a brow at him and was about to ask why he was so curious but thought it'd just kill the conversation so she answered, "Ryder."
A sudden surprise flashed across his eyes as he heard her. He laughed, "Oh what a coincidence."
"What coincidence?" She asked, confused at his weird laugh.
"Why, Ryder's my middle name."
"I see," she said, not very surprised at the coincidence.
"Benedict Ryder Sullivan," he said, "that's my full name."
