"Mm-hm," she hummed in reply to Cassie on the phone as she was walking down the street.
Sarah didn't have any more lectures today so she was currently on her way home. She didn't want them to worry anymore so she'd already given up on telling them the truth that she's just in a contract relationship with Max and nothing more.
Someone must be wondering why they're talking on the phone when they literally go to the same university and can meet anytime, but they are like this. They talk a lot, and by a lot it means, really a lot.
"Oh and do you remember once I told you about my uncle in Australia? He's asking me to join him in his business to, you know, gain some experience during my vacations before I start up my own company after finishing my studies," Cassie said.
"Oh wow, then are you gonna go to Australia?" She asked and stopped in front of a pet shop to buy some food for Meridith.
"Um no, I haven't thought about it yet. You know how hectic my schedule is getting nowadays. On top of it, I have to help Camila too for the uni event," she sighed, "I guess I'll only get rest once the semester gets finished."
"Yeah." She muttered agreeing with her because she herself was crushing in between her studies, assignments and job and knew the pain of a university student all too well.
She struggled to open the door of the shop with her elbow because her one hand was on the phone while other was busy handling her bag whose strap had suddenly decided to snap while she was walking earlier.
Argh. Why doesn't it open?
"Excuse me, may I?"
She saw a hand come in front of her and push the door. There was a big, expensive watch around his wrist. She looked up to find the person standing by her, holding the door open by his hands. He had ash brown hairs with hypnotic hazel eyes and a piercing in his left ear. He gestured from his hand to her, telling her to go ahead.
"Hello? Sarah you there?" Cassie's voice made her break her trance and she hurriedly nodded to the stranger, giving a smile as a token of thanks.
"Yeah still here," she replied to Cassie as she entered the shop and looked around for the cat section. "Listen Cassie, I'll talk to you later. Actually I'm buying some stuff for Meridith right now."
"Yeah sure," she agreed and told her to call her back later before hanging up.
"Meridith is really very picky with her food," she muttered to herself and sighed. If she mistakenky buys the one which is not to her taste then even if the world comes to an end but she isn't going to even touch that food can.
She would just scrunch up her nose in disgust and meow at it like it's something really very gross, she thought.
"Tuna... tuna..." she whispered slowly as her fingers slided over the food cans, her brown eyes searching for Meredith's favorite brand and stopped when she spotted it in the middle row. She picked it up and turned it around to check the expiry date when a voice interrupted her. "Buying treats for your cat?"
She turned her face towards the voice and found the same person, who helped her, standing next to her with a pet collar and food cans in his hands himself.
She nodded and smiled in reply, "Yeah."
"Have you tried this brand?" He holded up the can in his hand to show her.
"Uhm, no," she shook her head lightly, confused at the brand name since it's the first time she heard that name.
"It's good. Give it a try," he suggested. "Actually, I know this because I have a dog," he reasoned and smiled, nodding to himself, "And he just loves this brand." He said it with so emphasis on 'love' and rolled his eyes that she couldn't help but give a short, soft laugh.
