~2.5 months before the events of ATSV
"Y/N!"
You groaned and rolled over in your bed. It had to be like 3 am right now.
"Y/N!"
You shot up in bed, almsot head butting Lyla's hologram. She fell backwards in the air letting out a little squeal.
"Oh sorry! Sorry!" You said frantically, you reached out to help her tiny figure, but your hands retaliated once your realized she's a hologram. She stood up and brushed off her yellow jacket.
"Listen I'm really sorry to wake you up, but it's Miguel again."
You woke up a little bit more. "Again? That's the second time this month. Thanks Lyla," you sighed as you hurled off your comforter, ams quickly throwing on some pajama shorts and mismatched socks to go under your ridiculously baggy t-shirt.
You blindly reached for your door handle in the darkness. After several failed attempts, your hand finally grasped the handle and you tugged open your heavy bedroom door. Your eyes squinted, adjusting to the bright hallway lights as you trudged acrost to the room directly in from of yours. You quickly tapped on Miguel's room keypad, and heard the lock click. You slid in the dark room quickly, shutting the door fast behind you.
Your eyes struggled adjust to the darkness, but you could see Miguel shifting around frantically in his bed, while you could make out incoherent mumbles coming from him. Another nightmare. Probably about his daughter. You quickly sped over to him and sat next to him on his bed. You reached out and grabbed his shoulders. He was sweating and his eyes were squeezed tight.
"Miguel," you squeezed his big shoulders. He just keep muttering. You could make out small "no's" and "stop's" coming from him.
You leaned over him, shaking his shoulders now. "Miguel, you need to wake up." He didn't wake up, but he stopped thrashing around so wildly.
You shook harder and spoke louder. "Baby, I'm right here. Come on wake up please."
He suddenly sat up, his eyes wide and his breathing ragged. You jolted back, almost ending up like Lyla in your room a few moments ago. His eyes were darting around frantically, as one of his hands reached up and anxiously ran through his hair.
"Hey, hey, your okay- oh," was what you got out before Miguel suddenly tugged you acrost the covers and into his arms. He pulled you in between his legs, and leaned his face into your hair. You were extremely surprised at first, but you relaxed and wrapped your arms around his waist, running your hands over his back.
"Sorry," he mumbled sadly. "I just-need to make sure your really here."
You nodded. "Was it about her again?" You whispered gently.
You felt Miguel's head nod against your hair. "It's okay. It's okay." You comforted.
"It was worse this time."
"You don't have to tell me if you dont-"
"This time you disappeared too-and-and I couldn't save you. Either of you," his voice was small. You leaned back away from him, so you could see his face. His face was down, facing the bed beneath you two.
"Miguel, look at me."
He looked up slowly with sad eyes. Your hands went up to his shoulders. "I'm right here okay? It was just a dream. I'm still here see?"
He nodded and took a deep breath closing his eyes.
"Better?" You asked. He reopened his eyes and nodded.
"Good. Go back to sleep okay? I'll be right across the hall-" you moved to leave. But his hands gripped your waist tightly.
"Can you stay here?"
You stared before giving him a nod. "Sure."
He let you go, and moved the covers down for you to shimmy under. You barely had any time to shift around before Miguel was pulling you in by your waist and laying his head in your neck without a word. You cautiously ran a hand through his hair.
"Go to sleep. I'm right here."
Miguel mumbled something, and you were pretty sure you heard the word love in there.
"What?" You asked, halting your hands in his hair, your body freezing.
"Miguel?"
But his breathing was already steady, and his hand had gone limp around your waist.
Guess you'll never know.
